What complete nonsense. He never apologized for American actions in WW2. He never disputed American policy from WW2. He simply said we don't have to keep repeating our past mistakes, i.e. killing each other over primal, tribal differences. The hate is so blinding it is borderline ridiculous. What is he supposed to say: "you're damn right we bombed the hell out of them!"

Insanity.

We should have dropped a couple more big ones on them for good measure, as payback for POW mistreatment.

Maybe I misremember my history, or maybe I wasbrought up before the time of revisionary history, but the US was not in the war at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack. To me, when your in a war, you win it. Period. That is what has been wrong with our policies since WW2. I do not believe that this country would have the fortitude to fight another major war. I hope I am wrong, but that is what I believe. I have no regrets for winning WW2.

Television changed things when the war came into people's living rooms. The people at home no longer have the will to fight when they can see the suffering.

I think you may be right. Controlling the media is important to controlling the populace.

Agree with the philosophy. Don't go unless winning isn't the only thing that matters. Protecting the homeland is paramount, and one thing, but fighting proxy wars for geopolitical gain, wins you detractors...

Ask the Romans...

Neither does President Obama or any other sane American. All he said was we can learn from our mistakes as humans and stop killing each other over tribal differences. He explicitly stated in an interview last summer that he would not apologize for historical American foreign policy. I just don't understand the constant hate.

Your father isn't bigger than our country or it's morals.
I said that we (U.S. government) should have dropped a couple more big ones on them for "POW mistreatment." I said that I personally ( not the U.S. Government) would do it today if I had the chance. I never said that we ( the U.S. Government) should have dropped bombs based on my father's treatment. Read it again.....POW mistreatment, not treatment of one prisoner.

He doesn't understand how POWs were mistreated and never will. He's the type that believes the USA is to blame for the actions of the imperialist Japanese.
