Outdated joke. Can't believe some people on here still find this funny. There's a lot about Butch you can make fun of but this "Champions of life" gimmick is lame and way blown out of proportion.

Lol, yeah. Man, I got stationed here in the Marine Corps and met my wife here. Tried to get her to move to Knoxville so I could go to school. She had already graduated college and had a good job though. Her family is split Auburn and Alabma and she kindof floated between the two. I told her shortly after we met.."I can handle Auburn, but im not living with an Alabama fan." I took her to a vols game and she is about a big of a fan as I am. Vol Navy is what sold her.

I used to rib my cousin that played for UT in the early 80s about moving to Birmingham a few years after he left. He took it well.

True people get over things. However, it was documented that Akers really soured on UT due to the negativity leading to tge thought of instability for Butch. That was because of all of the "fire Butch" population and articles questioning the current culture. Believe what you will, but fans have a LARGE piece of recruiting.

It was? Please provide said documentation. I don't believe that for a single second.

Also, Bama was right behind Tennessee, 3rd place iirc, on the list.....how's their class looking this year?

You can believe what you want, but fan bases have very little to do with the decisions of players deciding where they want to go.

This you can love a university and support the team without liking the coach. A lot of people hated Kiffin while he was here but they still attended games. Same with Fulmer, Dooley and now Jones. In 99 Jerry Green made a hell of a run in basketball but that didn't make him any less of an a$$hole, did it?

Yeah, losing to Vandy wasnt a factor in Jones job stability. The articles questioning the culture was written by a reporter, not from fans on social media. Anyone with common sense is going to know that some unrest is going to come with taking this much talent and losing to a 5-7 Vandy team. If that comes as a suprise to anyone, then im not sure what anyone could say to you.
I dont follow recruiting very closely but from what I understand of Akers, Tennesssee was never really his top choice.
