I was throwing him out with the notion that people quit spending a few years after hiring a less established coach. He wasn't here long enough to prove that.

We really got behind when Hamilton hired Dooley. Partly poor timing and partly Hamilton.

I always thought that if we couldn't get what we wanted we should have kept Kippy for a year.

Also, if you look at it from a pure business perspective, it's a winning formula, for the books anyway. From a simple profit standpoint it's hard to argue with it. My question is, how long will that formula hold up? When will UT fans say screw it I'm done?

This part right here is the million dollar question. Imagine a new coach gets hired, but the fans don't get excited and flock to the stadium like they usually do. We all love our Tennessee football and what to see it back with the elite but unlesss the fans hit the university where it hurts the most their pocketbook then they have no reason to upgrade. The fans need to killl the bottom line and make their voices heard before a change will be made until then the AD is just going to keep lining their pocket.

Well, that's even another discussion. Basketball is never really going to draw a huge name because it is second fiddle to football. However, it is very similar to football in that the money is there for everyone, so coaches are willing to sit at their current jobs.

I though Rick Barnes was a coup for what we needed at the time- stability, reputable name, success at a prior huge school. He may not win us a championship, but who has?

Unfortunately, the fair weather basketball fans want to compare everyone to Pearl. He was a once in a generation type coach at UT. You just can't compare everyone to him. If you do, you will never be satisfied. Heck, at this point, he hasn't been able to do much at Auburn.

It's actually the same discussion. Possibly a matter of degree, but the philosophy is the same.

Hindsight that is the right call for sure.

I said it at the time. I'm a little partial though as I know some of his family and am a big Kippy Brown fan.

Cutcliffe would be hindsight though. Didn't think he could do it. Now I think he could have.

Or we can get as many fans as we can to call into finebaum and complain how the it administration doesn't want a strong football team

Not sure if you guys have seen, but I thought it was pretty funny. . .

On Ole Miss 247, they are saying they "passed" on Ty Chandler, so they could go after Cam Akers, lmao. They are still melting down over there.

In fairness, one of the replies was that they never had a shot with Chandler.

Why would they? They are too busy fixing computers.

However, if he was promised a shot at baseball and then was refused, that is not a good thing for the coaching staff's rep. That's really disgusting on our part.

Not the whole story. He was promised he could play both sports but that went out the window when he became an academic casualty. People just run with half the story. If he had kept his grades up, he could have played baseball.

Wtf is Parker even talking about? This is the first i've heard of it

@TheDannyParker: #Tennessee defensive back RaShaan Gaulden's response to #Vols fans telling other #Vols fans to "boycott" the bowl, calling them "sheep."

Loaded question and Gaulden navigated it well.

Also, screw any UT fan talking boycott

Did a quick scan of the free scout board and didn't see any topics close to that. So much for Parker not being a s--t stirrer, eh?

Lol this will turn out well. I haven't seen anyone telling others to stay home for the bowl game.
