How long do we accept the absolute low point in recent UT history as a standard..."look where he started". Looks like more and more folks are getting onboard w/ Butch that it takes 7 yrs. long as we Champions of Life each yr.

Did you read the article ? What it said of Blackburn --- The impending AD hire is also key to Jones’ future. Sources close to Tennessee expect Chattanooga AD David Blackburn to be the choice in the coming days. The longtime UT administrator, we’re told, is the best-case scenario for Jones.

“He’ll give (Jones) the best chance to succeed,” one source close to the school said of Blackburn.
Blackburn will dump Butch in 10 months after getting the job. Gilbert will probably hold his hand and tell him everything is fine.

Who are you going to get to replace him that would be better? Top coaches will not come here with such fickle fans. Change some of the position coaches instead.

Blackburn or whoever gets hired, more than likely won't fire Butch anytime soon BUT if he blows it again next year only winning 7-8 games, he will not be coaching here. Looking at the 2017-2018 schedule, there's 6 games that are not gimmes whatsoever. If Butch happens to go 7-5 or 8-4 again, you're looking at one unhappy fanbase. Butch will not change and his stubbornness will fail him in the SEC.

Even with the injuries it's fair to Butch for an 8-4 record D4H?

No way.

Losing to South Carolina and Vanderbilt was unacceptable.

I'm just saying that anyone who lowers the bar so much so they 7-5 is acceptable in 2017 is only doing so because of this season. Butch doesn't deserve a pass for 2016. And sure as hell not 2017 if the team goes 7-5.

He's at a point now where anything less than 9-3 should get him fired in 2017.

Then he's already fired.

Oh, I agree 7-5 is not acceptable at all. However, I can't understand people not giving Butch a slide in 2016 because of so many injuries. These weren't just no name barely playing injuries.

These were multiple injuries to a bunch of key players. I think that deserves a pass. I agree it was hard watching us lose to USCe/Vandy with so much on the line but it's hard to play with half your team injured. That's all I'm trying to say.

Not that he's a coach that's a perfect coach but what is he supposed to do about injuries to very key players? Nothing he or anybody can do. It's only next man up for Butch but we know how big of a difference that is with this football team.

Even with the injuries, he had enough talent to beat South Carolina & Vandy. Those two loses are all on Butch and you know what? Those are teams we expect to beat every year.

How can we as fans set here & say with the injuries we had enough talent to beat both USCe & Vandy? Yeah, it seems that way & looks that way in talent but there's no guarantees in that.

I do think Butch was outcoached in both games but player wise we just don't know if we had enough talent out there with all those injuries. You would think so because both were close games but again it's not a definite that we did.

What are we seriously looking at with a new QB? Everyone knows things are always shaky when you introduce a new QB. It very well could be 5 losses realistically. Can VN really handle that?

Mattresses will be sacrificed to the football gods.

So we had enough to run up and down the field on KY and Mizzou, but cannot say that we had it for USCe and Vandy.

Gotcha.

So you admit that Butch got out coached by Muschamp and Mason? Thanks for proving my point.

We also had a couple more injuries between these games to add to the rest we had. Listen, I already said that Butch got outcoached both losses regardless.

That's why I said we shoulda done it already.

We're simply wasting time by waiting for him to fail next year.

Who would you have hired given the massive amount of top tier jobs available this year? Fire a coach that has back to back 8-4 years from a program wandering in the wilderness for the better part of a decade? Without an AD or chancellor? Who in their right mind would come here? Yeah that's brilliant. Smfh.

Then that should be enough proof. Butch being outcached by Muschamp and Mason... and this is a guy who we expect to receive another pass cause he failed expectations again? Lmao

Tennessee should be a > 7 win team every year except for maybe 1 outlier an decade. So my requirement is for CBJ to have at least 8 wins next year. I believe with a new AD that CBJ will be safe the 1st year if he gets to 7 wins next year unless attendance falls off and the fans cries are really loud.

Florida is losing a ton on defense, Georgia will be starting a very young offensive line. All Fall camp to prep for GT. Eight and four should be the floor, IMO.

If it happens or not is another matter entirely.

Had the entire spring and summer to prepare for App State, and we still came out and played looked like a AAA high school team with a middle school play book.

What makes you think preparing for the triple option, which none of these guys ever play against, is somehow going to be easier?

Got those off-season glasses on a bit early don't you? Forgot the part where we had a nearly 100% healthy team, and we still struggled against App State and Ohio? Or the fact that the only reason we weren't 6-6 is two lucky plays in the end zone fumble recovery from Hurd and Jennings getting a 1/10 jump ball on the hail Mary?

Butch didn't have this team prepared to play any game this season, from start to finish. It will not surprise me one bit if they come out and aren't prepared against Nebraska as well.

Serious question....do you honestly believe we lost to Vandy because of injuries and Jalen Hurd?

Ok its all CBJ fault all the injuries are on him -- happy now ? iirc never mentioned Hurd in the Vandy loss
