Won't happen on the 16th. But likely to happen by Christmas and certainly before bowl game. And it will be Blackburn.

I know I'm a few pages behind here but TN State hires from a higher education standpoint happen on the 1st and 15th that I'm aware of. Hence the new Chancellor starting on the 15th.

Might make a exception for the new AD but I doubt it.

I haven't been able to follow recruiting to the level I have the last few years.

Could somebody tell me why all these 3* guys with offers from Memphis, Purdue, and Utah are getting so pumped up.

I just don't see that we're getting the talent to compete.

The offer lists for a lot of our commits just... isn't... great.

You must be trolling. What a negavol.

Just kidding. I agree, not sharing in the excitement here.

I've just been watching from the "outside" more this year and we're back to competing against mid tier programs for guys instead of the battles against the big boys, with the exception of our top 4 or 5 guys.

We all said last year "filled needs" but this year looks like more of the same. Hope I'm wrong and butch closes with some big fish.

Otherwise, we just won't have the talent to really go after playoff runs.

QB McBride seems to be a better prospect than the former QB that was commited. But if JG is truly special, he won't play for a while.

The DE we got had some good P5 offers, had 15 sacks on the state championship team at the highest level of competition in Florida, and is an EE. It seems that we are pushing for more guys who are enrolling early.

3 or 4 of them have de-committed over the last couple of days....Butch making room for bigger fish. As far as McBride goes. We may have just gotten a bit of a steal. He has a cannon for an arm and can move with the ball in hand. Needs work, but actually looks pretty good. We won't need him on the field for 2 or 3 years. Plenty of time to work with him.

Just my better than stellar opinion of course.

Recruiting has admittedly fallen a bit behind it's usual target. However, we are currently cutting some guys and upgrading those positions. The Vols will finish strong in recruiting, though probably a bit behind previous classes.

I'm with you. Last year was one of those years that was easy to rationalize. Smaller class, a bit of a down year instate, more surgical with respect to positional needs.

This year, some of these are head scratchers. It appears that you are right, the talent level appears to be trending down, from a recruiting ranking standpoint anyway.

I hope you guys are right. Really hope we keep pulling the talent in.

That's the difference between going 8-4 when you lose half your defense to injuries and going 5-7 like an Ole Miss. they had a couple good classes but never built out the depth.

I'm tentatively concerned but have the expectation we turn it around.

I agree with Face and McGee. The rationalization on some of these guys eh. I hear strong offer lists. Not so much.

Trey Smith ....5*
Shanon Reid.....4*
Will Ignont.....4*

How is that not talent to compete?

You can sell me on a three star with a strong offer list any day of the week.

I agree. I am just saying the 3 stars we are recruiting, not so much. An example, the offer list to the recent DL commit out of Florida some said was strong. Auburn was the ONLY "strong" offer...
