He has to prove to ADs he has grown up without someone else being his boss to get a good job somewhere. Not a bad move by him at all.

But FAU? Yes, he has the Florida HS talent in his backyard to recruit but it IMO it will be hard to win there.

Good. I'm fine with him disappearing into obscurity. I'm sure Joey Freshwater will be out in full force down there, though.

Thats a good point. I was wondering why he would take the FAU gig over LSU OC but what you said makes sense. We all know how big his EGO is and working for Orgeron would probably be a big shot to it.

Ego isn't really a bad thing. It drives many to success. It also can be a factor in bad decisions. He's received promotions way too early IMO. Al Davis went all Al Davis and got that ego ball rolling. Maybe having a lower profile stint will let him reinvent himself along with what he had to have observed from Saban.

Joey Saltwater could do a whole lot worse.

Boca is amazing and, being in Florida, he should be able to get recruits. If he gets them to 7-8 wins by year 2, I think someone will take a chance on him.

I know that I would have finished the season before I left the team.

No, you don't. Sorry, but you have not been in his situation. I do admit that I have no love lost for him at this point, but, until this year, he gave his all and his body got beaten and battered. Part of that is his running style and part of it is that we relied on him a great deal. In hindsight, I wish that he would have gone after last season, but none of us knew how this would turn out.

Kiffin to fau

lmao. oh how the wannabe mighty have fallen. Punk ass.

Is FAU the team that got into the big brawl with Miami? If yes, then he will fit right in.

Edit: I looked. It was FIU. Still, I just can't believe he is too happy that this was his best offer.

It will be interesting to watch it play out. Ego is a fine line and Lane has shown he can make some bad decisions. Time to see if he can make some right ones.

Unless he offers him OC, he could try to steal him...but....

Maybe OL coach? Always thought that was his ultimate goal here. Was OL coach at USF so maybe he would see this as going backwards.

What about Sark to LSU? Rekindle those old flames from SC.

How can anyone hire him right now? Showing up
At events and practices drunk. How easy would it be to negative recruit him right now?
Your going to send your son to play for an alcoholic who might implode again at any moment ? I think everyone deserves another chance but I couldn't hire him
As a cordinator for a few years.

IMO this season was the first that we could reasonably expect Butch to win the East. The way the games played out last year was dissapponting, but all in all I think he at least met expectations then.

So in my mind this year started a 3-4 year clock that Butch has to win the East and at the bare minimum make it a competitive game in the championship. And if he ever finishes worse than an 8 win season barring some extreme circumstances than take off an extra year off the clock, so to speak.

Even UK has higher expectations than this. We could have hired a HS coach for a fraction of CBJ's salary with a minimal buyout if we're willing to spot our HC an eight-year learning curve and accept midpack performance.
