I'll be happy to watch any VOLS game but Indiana at the Music City Bowl does not make me want to leap for joy or even golf clap.

Could we get Wisconsin or Nebraska?

Edit: why would Kentucky and Vandy get better bowls than us?

KY going to a florida bowl is because they don't want to put a team in a bowl that has been there the last 3 years, they are afraid fans won't travel as well. That isn't set in stone, but preferred. candy hasn't been projected above us. The Belk bowl looks like VT will be playing in that one, so they don't want to have a rematch of a regular season game. Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa are likely, Minnesota and Indiana are less likely. I think Minnesota has played there a few times recently though. Navy might change some of this.

The MCB seems like a bump up for the Hoosiers and a bump down for the Vols. UK finished strong and overachieved and we finished weak and underachieved, so this probably factored into it.

Will any of their players remember it though?

Not sure if anyone has talked about it, I haven't read the board much the last few weeks. Kiffin to LSU was being discussed on ATL radio and they mentioned Kiffin's contract expires in FEB. The host said that he talked to someone that covers the team out of Tuscaloosa and he said that Bama doesn't have any intention of extending him and that Sarkisian is going to be taking over.

The appeal would be that the Music City Bowl committee, themselves, get their revenue from ticket sales and sponsors. And frankly probably do not care much about economic effect it'd have on the city of Nashville. And by having a local team like the Vols play, they know they will sell a lot more tickets than say Georgia or Florida playing there.

With it only being a 3.5 hours drive from Bloomington and the disappointment amidst the UT fan base right now, the committee is banking on equal or more IU fans' money.

I renewed my donation today. Just love the fun I have going with friends and family and occasionally making someone who never gets to go happy by giving to them when we can't make it. Only so many seasons and games in our lifetime. While the good Lord blesses me where I can afford it, I will keep doing it. Go Vols.

I am hoping to be able and do it one day, after my little girl gets older. I just cannot take that kind of time away from her so many weekends. With my job I am on call every third weekend, so that bites into my time with her as it is. I only went to one game this year, but the last couple of years, I have tried to go to at least two or three. I would like to continue doing that until she gets older, and then I want to get season tickets, as long as the good Lord blesses me with the financial stability to do it.

I think he would be an instant upgrade.

he doesn't look 70 and he sure doesn't act 70.

The teams demeanor would immediately change. For the good. No more loafing and much more accountability.

I've been down on butch and this program since this vandy loss but then this popped up in my suggested videos. Personally it hyped me back up. I was reminded of what it looked like for this defense to have a front 7. I usually hate the injuries excuse but I really think it had a profound impact on the way we finished this season. I'm going to be rooting for butch and I hope he gets to put together an improved staff (hopefully one with shoop assistants). I think JG could be special so maybe we can do better next year than people think. The bowl game will be telling of where the players are with butch. If they come out and play hard it'll prove they have his back.

You at least should have held out a bit and made them sweat a little. You just gave Butch your stamp of approval. :lolabove:

I've been leaning towards Butch blowing a 4th quarter lead to Saban and the Vols

You forgot some things. Are youmjust swapping Saban with Jones and NO other assistants? If you are saying just switching Saban with Jones, then I think Jones beats Saban, easily. Now if Saban gets to bring his assistants, then Saban beats Jones.

You just made my point. Butch has lost the trust of many by shopping around. It doesn't matter whether it's local media or not. Hubbs, Paul, Brice, and Chris Lowe have all said he would jump given the circumstances here. They've all said he feels underappreciated. That tells me there is a divide between what he thinks reasonable expectations should be and what the fans think they should be. That is a recipe for disaster imo. Like it or not many have lost faith in Butch and he's going to have to do something fairly spectacular to win their trust back. This is a different Butch than the one that arrived on campus 4 years ago. That Butch seemed humble and grateful for the opportunity. This Butch seems privileged and has a higher self worth than he warrants IMO.

Well said!
