I'm sure he really doesn't want to be fired and would rather leave on his own terms. He's made numerous comments about pressures and expectations and if he feels unappreciated, he's right-- fans don't appreciate losing to SCAR and Vandy and choking away the SECE and the Sugar Bowl. The narrative is completely against him and he's done nothing to flip it.

Lol Skip Bayless. Always on the other side of an argument

You know what is funny about that is the thing posters have hated me for over the years is my distain for how butch approaches recruiting and taking early recruits and then cutting them loose. Now even this week I have hammered Butch for the same thing but no one here is man enough to stick by there position for the first 3.5 years of butch being here doing the same thing. The opposition is no longer there for that thinking but my position has been consistent.

I also have always been consistent with my support of butch on the field. I haven't changed now. I criticize some things like getting rid of Jancek but I have never wanted him gone. I am consistent and stick to my guns. You flip flopping friends are the ones that keep switching sides.

I think Butch bungled the entire offseason. Team 119 overachieved to have been so close to 12-0. Butch and the team by extension thought they had arrived and that all he needed to do to win the East and 10+ games in 2017 was preserve the health of his returning studs and then just run through everyone on the schedule.

S&C decisions were an overcorrection on his part, IMO, due to the injuries sustained in fall camp last year. No one really got hurt in fall camp this year outside of Hall, but the team wasn't prepared for live contact whatsoever. They got pushed around by App State. Ball security issues are also indicative of a lack of contact. Once the season begins, your chance of ironing out those issues is mostly gone, because most coaches don't do full contact drills during the season itself. Too risky and players are already beat up.

Lack of full contact practices/scrimmages also perhaps contributed to the uncharacteristic penalties and overall lack of "fight" that we saw in the team until their backs were absolutely against the wall.

I believe Fulmer said something on the pre-game show before the Missouri game about how difficult it is to correct major issues with a team mid-season. You establish your identity in fall camp and hope you got it right, because by the time the season starts, it's mostly too late to change it. At that point you're licking your wounds, holding guys out of practice all the time, and gameplanning for opponents.

This makes good sense Aesius - I also think he "overcorrected". I hoped it wouldn't hurt but was concerned that it might.

This can be fixed.

You're becoming a caricature of yourself tonight.

Yes. Gilbert is probably sitting back and enjoying it, too. He really thought he had pulled off a coup.

So are you hearing it's likely Blackburn now too? From what I've been told it's looking better but still not a done deal..

Yes. There seems to be some sort of sticking point, though. Not sure what. Maybe something to do with the Chancellor... or perhaps wanting him to keep Gilbert as his right hand with more power for Gilbert? Or possibly even a longer transition with Hart, who wants to stay on into spring. There are a lot of moving parts.

Shouldn't have lost to Vandy, bruh.

You never lose to Vandy or Kentucky as a UT head coach without repercussions. It is humiliating to UT fans to lose to either of those two bottom feeders. I thought we were starting another 20 year run on those fools. But the jokes on us...thanks Butch! And the moron is too stupid to understand why we're so pissed...

I was told they want Hart out yesterday.

The first time it was mentioned it was said his agent is looking around "like he does every year" and then it took on a mind of its own. Rense and repeat from all the talking heads.

Exactly, almost every coach through his agent looks at options
You would be dumb not to do so. This has be exaggerated by media and fans.

Agreed and that is my point. Fools saying Butch is opening shopping himself around and that is false.

Fort & Hubbs have said numerous times that Butch doesn't understand the frustration with fans. He's been quoted saying as much multiple times.

You already knew that though.

That's hasn't been reported since Vandy.

And hell no butch has never been quoted saying it. More made up bs here

But the fanbase usually doesn't know what the agent is doing. In this case it's been leaked and no denials have been made. Butch himself has not looked like a coach that want's to be here. Not a word from him since his abbreviated post Vandy loss press conference.
