Agreed.

Jurich slightly better

Why? He has been surrounded by a good bit of controversy. And, he hired back a scumbag to be his football coach. The same scumbag who lied to the administration right before he left to coach the Falcons. The same scumbag who left the Falcons in the middle of the season without facing his players or assistant coaches. The same scumbag...well, you get the idea.

Fair enough. I don't want Petrino near my program. There is no doubt that he is an offensive genius, with emphasis on offensive. I just think he is bereft of morals and I don't want that kind of influence on our student athletes.

What was Louisville sports before jurich? Dude knows winners. Hired Petrino then Strong then Petinon again. Hired Pitinio in basketball. Lousiville sports been at an all time high success rate under him. He know the bottom line is to hire winners and watch the money flow and negotiate the heck out of the deal to keep them as long as you can whether it's the buyout or whatever.

I respect that. Not my feeling but I respect it

Petrino knows he can't slip up again plus he wasn't doing anything that several other coaches aren't doing across country but just ain't public

He also endorsed that former VB coach here to be the AD at Rutgers. I would not be happy if we hired Jurich, honestly, just not crazy about him as a person. Although, by all accounts Hamilton was a great person, just horrendous as an AD.

How many coaches leave in the middle of the night without telling even his assistants? I did not even mention the backroom trolling he did at Auburn to get Tubberville out so that he could have that job.

I am sure that he does realize he will be on a tight leash wherever he goes. Maybe he has changed some; it seems unlikely to me, but one never knows. Louisville has stumbled a good bit down the stretch, but Lamar Jackson has been a joy to watch.

Butch interview-"Champions at Life"

Saban interview clip- "Losing is NEVER acceptable". Goes off and basically ends the interview.

Both teams play with complete different mindsets too. Smh

"Champions of Life" is the dumbest thing the cliche machine Butch Jones ever uttered . And it's going to be a punchline that will follow him around for awhile.

"Now does anyone want him or take a real look at him. I'm not sure about that"... That quote by VQ says all you need to know about Jones. Tennessee coaches, man! No one wants them.

This is what was so surprising about the decision. It was off the card as it were. When asked about going for the win against A&M Jones said that he plays to keep playing. That the players have worked to hard to put everything on one play that would end it all. This is a statements about probabilities of continuing to be able to score. It was so un-Butch for him to make a call with long odds. Off the card as it were.

He made the right decision at A&M. We had all the momentum. Going into OT with an offense that looked unstoppable was the right move. I think most Aggie fans thought they had no shot at overtime.

I also think Butch made the right choice at Vandy. With less than 2 minutes to go and down 11 inside the 20, you go for 4th and 3. If you can't pick up 3 yards at that spot chances are slim you'll score a TD with a minuite to go if you recover an onside kick.

Butch's late game decision-making wasn't the problem against Vandy. It was the fact we were in that situation against Vandy that is the issue.

I remember a lot of talk say 18 months ago that 2017 would be the year. The Bowl win against NW and the preseason hype this year advanced the schedule for many but from the point of view of personnel development the initial analysis probably should still stand. Accelerate the narrative like that and one gets disappointment where before there was expectation. It's a fickle game indeed.

No.

2016 was always the year. We had a star senior QB with lots of NFL talent surrounding him.

2017 was always gonna be a rebuilding year with a new QB and a lot of stars leaving (i.e. Barnett, Sutton, JRM, Kamara, Hurd, etc.).

I don't think Butch will be here next year.....I think he already has one foot out the door.

Hopefully.

This program needs to move on from him. He's peaked. He's did a great job rebuilding the program but he isn't the guy to finish the deal.

We need a real coach like Greg Schiano.

I think the Kentucky AD would be a good move. You have to think about it from the perspective of prospective coaching hires. They are looking at their bosses and saying can I respect them? Can they do what is necessary to help me be successful. Blackburn is still green. Hasn't run a power 5 program. Kentucky is a big time college athletic program.

It makes me think the powers that be are wanting to make big time coaching hires and don't want concerns about the ad to get in the way.

Exactly - and it's really not a hard decision, especially from outside the 10 yard line. Let's assume Kamara is successful and gets the yards for a first down. They still have to line up, use clock trying at least one more play. If they don't score, do they run another play or do they kick? If they run the ball and don't get in there goes another TO. Look at the fumbles all year and even in this game. If they pass, how many times have we seen Dobbs throw a critical pick in this situation? Too many. Too many bad things can happen in addition to the clock and TO usage. If you get to 4th down again - what do you do?

You kick the FG right then. You still have a shot to win.

You're just kicking the can down the road. You still have to answer all these questions again if you recover the kick. That's if your kicker doesn't doink another.

I'm gonna try to move on from all this. Bottom line is that we lost and at that point it was gonna take a miracle either way.

And wins a lot of football, basketball and baseball games. Also wins in women's athletics also.
