What are our insiders hearing?

Go write a blank check to Chip Kelly, or Urban Meyer.

Meyer will not leave OSU. Easy to recruit to, easy conference, great pay.

We would have to find a hot new coach like Herman or pull a nfl bust.

Chip kelly is an option.

Oh wow... that's no coincidence. From a marketing expert, I can seriously say what a play! Honestly go Houston AND Butch for making this happen.

Think what Butch is starting with at Houston and how much they were willing to pay Herman. They are embracing a slogan that while it is being used as a mockery, already has recognitions. This shows full-on support. And it makes sense for all parties. The least of them being Tennessee and I fear that we will find that out very soon.

But think about it. UT and it's fans get what they want (I was not happy with how our fans acted this year and am afraid we will get what we asked for), he leaves with some big successes by taking a program like TN from the dumps to being in the preseason NC talk on his resume with nor more than a small asterisk on his resume next to this season, he moves to a program on the rise, with existing talent, in an easier conference, gets paid more money, where their fans are more appreciative, realistic and have lower expectations, and in a state with very fertile recruiting state with great proximity to others.

Kiss him goodbye folks. Now who is it we hire again? I bet Debord gets an interim HC coaching job and all of you who laugh at my last post (as I did too) or cursed at it will be laughing or cursing at something else!

Atlanta Vol made some interesting comments, said that we've got a coaching search "committee" in place, in which CPF is a very active participant. Also said he believes Butch is gone in 2 years.

The unfortunate inference there is that Butch is here for 2 more years.

Perfect, just enough time to set our program back another 5 years after CBJ is let go since recruiting will go in the tank. We either need to cut strings now or decide we Re legitimately going to give him a chance at succeeding here..we can't say " he's gone in 2 years" or he will not be able to recruit.

Cutcliffe has it made @ Duke. Even after a 4-8 season this year, expectations are manageable. He's not coming here to be the savior of UT football.

Opinion stated as fact. The reality is you have no idea if he would consider it or if TN would consider him.

Stop there is no spinning this into a positive. The real experts are mocking Butch Jones in the national media right now, he's leaving.

The should be mocking Ole Miss and Arkansas and ... Houston and Louisville.

More than likely there is going to be Alabama undefeated and then Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Florida and Texas A&M all setting with 4 losses. LSU because they won are probably off the "hit list".

People cannot be serious with the Cutcliffe stuff. He would be a terrible hire. He doesn't recruit. Too old. Might as well bring Fulmer back.

He is a good coach, but you cannot win, especially at UT where there is a lack of in-state talent, with a head coach that cannot recruit.

You expect folks to make sense? Some just want another coach - they don't care if who it is makes sense. They don't even care if there is one out there. Duke is 4-8.

The irony ... if you have been paying attention for a while ... is that when they name a coach - that team automatically loses to a team they should have beaten.

I think CBJ is on the hot seat for 2017 with the new ad giving him at least 1 year to show that he can take UT to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

So you want a coach that is 4-8, 1-7 in their division?

Seriously???

For the sake of the current offensive roster (Specifically the QB and WR's), I would take Cut right now. Literally has the best track record of developing QB's in the SEC right now.

Would be the best thing that could happen to JG and QD.... Cut isn't scared to run two QB systems and he usually makes them work when he has the talent....

I'm not an insider but I was talking to an ex football staff member yesterday and he said that....um, oh nevermind.

Idk the ins and outs of this stuff, but it would seem to make sense to cut CBJ salary and allow him to earn it back with incentives throughout the year. If he wins the East, he gets 1 million back, etc.

Then hire him as QB coach. As a head coach - not with that track record. No.

You can't change contracts, nor would cutting his pay make him a good coach.

Yeah, if we could do that, then no coach would want to come here.

And then Butch is able to beat the teams that the former coach who bailed for Texas could not and Houston becomes the first non P5 team to make the playoffs. Then all the folks whining on here are thinking about what might have been as they see their team struggle when players leave and the rebuild starts again.

Yeah, if we could do that, then no coach would want to come here.

And you really believe they do right now?

What is more than likely to happen is that a potential candidate asks for a lot more money with a significant buy out clause because they will clearly understand that if they don't win the SEC the first year - it will be "fire him".

Butch didn't get fired after only winning 5 games his first year. After 4 years, losing to Vandy and recruiting in the toilet, dump the bum. JMO

H*** No! It would have been a good move after Kiffin left us to calm the ship but at this point we don't need another 8 win coach.
