What are our insiders hearing?

You guys do realize that Charlie Strong took over DC duties this season. Still managed to let KANSAS score on them. No thanks I'll pass on Charlie Strong. Bob Shoop needs to hire his own assistants. Instead of adapting to our terminology he needs to install his own. No way He can have top defenses at every school he's been to then drop the ball here. There's a disconnect somewhere and it needs to be fixed. As far as offense goes. Bring in Art Briles son (Baylors OC and their Offensive line coach). Butch shouldn't have his hand in anything other than special teams and timeouts.
Our D wasnt just bad, it was historically bad.

If, and this is a big if, Butch is putting out "feelers," and some school takes the bait, wouldn't they have to buy out his contact from us? So in essence they would have to pay us 10 million to take him? For this reason alone, he's not going anywhere.

Unless there's a way we say don't worry about the buyout and just take him. - Please.

I'm just glad others are finally seeing what myself and many others have seen all along. We tried to tell you.

They saw it all along, why else would they issue death threats to posters that knew BJ was a loser from the get-go?

That stuff gets negotiated if all parties involved want the move to happen.

Chavis fixed LSUs offense and did a great job with the Vols offense.

If Chavis is the best they can do, hell, just dismantle the damn program and put money in women's lacrosse.

Wow. Might want to do your homework when talking about coaches and what side of the ball they coach.

We need to take and learn from the Michigan fiasco. After Carr went into the coaching carousal of Rich Rodriguez, Brady Hoke to Jim Harbaugh. 7 seasons of 46-42 mediocre under RR and BH. Spent 5 Mil to acquire Jim Harbaugh and added 2 Mil per year at a later date. Added 2 mil more for interest free loans totaling 9 mil per year.

Pay the right one to fix it and the one that will bring the staff to make it happen.

Giving Butch another year to half-ass his way through a season just puts us further down the drain.

Sooo...you want Hamilton to do his thing again???

We're stuck w/ Butch for another year...it's the less of evils.

Nothing will be done until we have a new AD here. This is a fact. I have complete faith that Tennessee will botch the AD hire too.

yea this whole "butch is a great recruiter" myth needs to be put to rest.

his recruiting has slipped every year and continues to nosedive.

but, the fact of the matter is that it doesnt matter what kind of talent you bring in if you can't develop it.

Could not agree more. He did fine early on......but it's only going to get worse. No one jumps on a sinking ship. That goes for assistant coaches as well.

Fire BJ and put the headset on a chart and we would be in ATL next week.

Unbelievable the amount of people that want Art Briles. The guy is a garbage human being. Some of you must not be champions of life

No one will touch Art. His son had nothing to do with it, pretty good OC at Baylor

What really stinks is that there aren't a lot of good coaches really on the market right now.

Herman is gone, and all four of his loses at Houston were against inferior competition anyway. Strong certainly isn't the answer. Nobody is touching Briles, so get over it now. Petrino? We would have to really go deep in the wallet to get him out of his comfy spot in Louisville where you only have to play two real teams a year (and he just somehow lost to Kentucky). The guy at Colorado won't be any better than Butch.

I personally hate the idea of hiring a first-time head coach.

Bama hired and fired till they got the right coach. Dont be decieved by butchs first year here, the in state talent was the best it has been in years, legacy vols came home after the dooley debacle. It was the perfect storm for a big bag of wind like Jones. Fire him now take our medicine, hire blackburn and ask him about his top picks and hire them.

From everything I've heard it's Blackburn. Too many of the right people want him.

The AD is extremely important at this point and he has the ability to pull everything together to fix it.

I agree.

Using recruiting rankings as a basis for defending a coach is suspect at best.

How much 4 star talent has not seen the field except special teams or left the program under his watch?

And how do those losses make those vaunted rankings that a few keep clinging to hold up if you factor in those losses?

The thing is, in this day and age I think everyone is on the market(except for guys like Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer). It comes down to $$$$

I'm hearing that too, but I wont put it past the board, to completely muck this up.

Sometimes it is necessary to hire in people who arent the saints we want. Sometimes a sinner can get the job done better. Other times, those who have made mistakes need an opportunity at redemption.
