This season was the most Tennessee thing that could happen.

Butch didn't suck out loud so badly that the AD will feel strongly compelled to fire him, but the fanbase has now competely turned on him.

That means lame duck Dave Hart will twiddle his thumbs, Butch's agent will frantically work the phones to find a landing spot for him, but ultimately Jones will still be here in 2017.

DeBord will retire, and Gillespie, Scott, Thig, and Shoop will all bail.

No one will want to coach at Tennessee, so Butch will promote Z to OC and Martinez to DC.

It's happening folks.

I am all in for Taggert and Mullen. Could be for Kelly with the right DC. He wouldn't be able to run that quirky D stuff he tried at Oregon in the SEC. Good with Mac, don't think he will leave. Pass on Les. Too loyal to incompetent coaches on the O side of the ball.

I have tried to sleep on it to let myself calm down and not speak out of my ass, but I am still pretty ticked this morning. Reading that he did not even stick around and face the music like a man makes me even angrier. I don't like to throw crap out like, "fire him now," but it appears he has totally lost the fans. That will cost the university money. Even if he makes wholesale changes, it may be too late. I hope he is looking around so we don't have to pay the buyout. We won't fire him for that reason and then, the media would just jump on us for that. At least, I still have the Cubs.

I totally agree it needs to happen now. Dead Man Walking. But this is the same UT that hired Dools, then let him stay one year too long. They will let Butch Stones stay one year too long. It's what they do.

If we are honest we knew recruiting took a turn down last season and it currently appears it will be in the 10-20 range again this time depending on the fall out from yesterday. That gives the new guy a base of good, not great players to at least win 8-9 games in his first season even if we have to endure him for another season. Any quality assistant coach in his right mind would not come to UT now. Butch has proven his incompetency as a game day coach and developer of talent on the big stage too often and the media has no respect for him.

He needs a miracle or two, and they already happened in OT against Ohio as well as the Hail Mary against UGA. Yes, folks, the team easily could have the same 6-6 mark as Vandy. That's where Butch took the projected division winner.

Yep.

Assistant coaches should bail and I won't blame them one bit.

We lost to Vandy and SCjr in year 4 with a top 10 roster. Need to make the move before recruiting suffers anymore and the next HC comes in with a rebuild project.

Not making the move this year will set us back another 3-4 IMO

Hire Blackburn this week. Whatever timeframe they had for an AD decision has just been violently thrown out the window thanks to the performance last night. First priority is finding our next football coach before January 1st.

I agree. I do not want another rebuild. I'm tired of saying "next year it's our turn". That was supposed to be this year and we lost to SC and Candy. Bring a winner in soon or we'll be back at 5-7

Mathews: Butch Jones isn't getting fired nor should he be. He's built a solid foundation. He needs to seriously look at his program including introspectively.

MacIntyre was Colorados second choice when Butch left them at the alter for UT.

Les Miles won't do much better here. Anyone can recruit at LSU.

You would have to go for someone like a Narduzzi or Fleck because Oregon is offering up to 10mil.

He's not getting fired but I very well could see him leaving. It would be a disaster to not have an AD in place.

We blew it, no doubt. It was 2005 with a couple more wins.

Also, I know he had a solid reputation, but if we never saw cowboy blitzing Bob Shoop again, I wouldn't be upset.
