I think it'll go

UF
SC
UGA
UT
then who cares after that

Edit: not my picks just who I think the media will pick

I don't think just because SC beat us, that they'll be picked high. I think most people realize they're not that good. FL loses a lot of their stars on D.

UGA returns a lot.

We could/should finish this year as the second highest ranked SEC team.

Silver lining is that texas has to pay Strong double what Tennessee had to pay dooley...
So texas doubles Tennessee payout for same production from a dooley level performance from coach Strong ...

Posters here still want to hire the Texas dooley?
:)

As a HC absolutely not. As a DC. &)/@ &@/?$&!/ yes.

Charlie needs to really just hang out a year and get some of that buyout money...Sheesch, something like ten million. I'd relax and take a year off

Probably will unless a nice job presents itself. He will get another HC job whether it is this year or next he just needs to be more picky about the situation. He learned his lesson that not all coaches top 5 schools to coach at should be the same. You must make sure your background fits where you are going. Don't forget what got you there in first place

Strong is not the TX Dooley. Dooley just can't coach. Strong picked the wrong school and basically went to a new country compared to what he knows. South Florida doesn't go to TX he should have understood that but he thought they would. Now I wouldn't be forcing Butch out for Strong at all but if Butch left of his own, Strong would absolutely be someone that is talked to here.

People always say this even with a mountain of evidence to the contrary. They couldn't, can't, didn't, won't be able to hire whoever they want.

There are exactly 3 schools currently who got slam dunk coaching hires

And Michigan and bama both made some bad hires before lucking into their current coach

Usually all these top names come out and it just doesn't happen

O has never been smart enough to be a Coordinator and is now the head football coach. I mean wow

This is reality. But I guess it's easier to cannibalize the very program you claim to support for being cheap.

He was the texas DC of record against TCU yesterday. Strong called the defensive plays.

No Thanks
:hi:

Or maybe there is a trend that you can't play defense in that conference. Muschamp and Manny Diaz both couldn't stop those offenses in that league. Then muschamp comes back to build dominate Florida defense and doing similar at South Carolina. Diaz went back to Miss ST to revive his career and get the Miami DC job where he is doing solid.

There is clearly a lack of defensive focus in that region for high school. All the best athletes are playing offense leaving defense to be slacking

Losing record for entire tenure as HC: check
Lost to a team that they should have never lost to: kansas and Kentucky: check
Huge buyout that boggles the mind: check

Only difference, seems that Strong recruited better than dooley. I think he did sign some OL :)

You totally forgetting he coached at Louisville?

Mike Hamilton level AD probably takes them down a few pegs.

Also not directed at you but I think there's a very slim chance Charlie Strong is a DC anywhere. Dude had a huge chip on his shoulder about never being hired as a HC and then he was actually successful at it. With 10 mil to live off of he can wait a year or two for a smaller ACC school or one of the Florida programs to pick him up.

UF could finish 8-5 and are losing pretty much the entire defense.

South Carolina is still really bad regardless of their upset of us. Besides that win over us their wins were ECU, Western Carolina, Vandy, UMass, and Mizzou. They lose a lot on defense.

UGA will be good on defense, but are losing 3 OL and Atlanta media thinks both Chubb and Michel leave.

If we get to 10 wins we will be picked to win the East because we will be returning probably 8 offensive starters and 8 on defense if you go by who started most of the year.

The Butch Jones effect will cost us some confidence from the media. Bet a lot of writers and pundits just don't think he can get it done now.
