I think it is fascinating Tom Herman lost a game he shouldn't have in large part because he was missing a bunch of key defensive starters and some on our board once again draws all the wrong conclusions (Herman's overrated!).
Right before our eyes a universally praised coach struggled to win with back up defensive players.
I personally give Herman a big pass on yesterday's game. With scholarship limits, etc I fully understand why they lost that game.
I agree. Analytics is hard stuff for those that only watch scoreboards and where the ball is on every play. Herman is great one in the making.
If a person had watched #10 play DT as a freshman for UH this season, they would know why Houston lost yesterday even without the other injured starters. Remove Barnett from our line-up and see what happens. There is nobody remotely close to sub that can produce at their level. Ferguson is a legit top talent at QB. His head was messed up when with us. He got it together.
Which is what kills me about the Shoop is bad crowd. JRM was one of the top 3 LB's in the nation. He helped the D-line achieve more because O-linemen had to know where he was on every play. Which made Kirkland even better. Same in the secondary with Cam. Top 5 DB when healthy. Eliminates any real concerns you have on one side of the field as well as being a game breaker with his PR's. They had nobody developed enough to play at or near their level. Then Kirkland goes down, then the best DT's are gone. Then the safeties start getting injured. It all spiraled out of control of even one of the very best DC's in the business.
Some on here need to lurk and learn the game before spouting off gibberish. We can have differences of opinion, but at least make it credible.
