UPDATED... Athletic Director hot board

Thanks Beecher, I had heard that Blackburn had a pretty good hand in the Kiffin hire at the time and thought maybe it was because of that.

I don't know how involved he was in the hire, but he is widely credited with being the reason Kiffin and his band of idiots didn't get the program burned to the ground.

Apparently the guy was a one man fire department.

The choice is obvious!!!

Judge Tim Irwin!!!!

Exactly what Tennessee needs right now. Would be too perfect! Look at his bio. A real leader that all Tennessee coaches across the board would immediately respect and and fall in line with. IMO

I say we hire Bubba. I like guys named Bubba.

I love how people on here think they have a damned clue about an AD job and who is or isn't qualified LOL.
The ignorance I read on here is only eclipsed by the arrogance I read on here.

I am not in that camp. I have no clue about an AD. I just hope UT makes the right decision. Its very important.

ok who is atlanta vol? lots of likes, not many posts.

I believe he is one of the very few on here who have legit connections inside Tennessee. Not one of the uncles of a player or somebody's brothers, cousin or something. I think he is a true insider.

I like Blackburn for the job but having a Bubba for AD would be pretty awesome.

Tennessee could hire the Nick Sabah of athletic directors and most will ***** about it not being David Blackburn.

Give me someone who has a desire to win championships and understands what it takes to do so. Give me someone who will see the bar high for our athletics programs and is not content with mediocrity as long as the money keeps rolling in. Give me someone who understands that coaching is the most important expenditure that can be made and having top notch coaching comes before top notch facilities.

The bargain basement mindset in terms if coaching has to change for us to ever be near the top again.

Unless something goes terribly wrong I can assure you that DB will be our guy.

There are plans being put into place for the next two years as it relates to the football program overall. CPF is also planning on playing a much larger role in the program moving forward...I will leave you with that to chew on.....

Do these plans include shoveling dirt on Butch Jones career at UT???

Fulmer's going to be a larger role in the program? Doing what? He's been out of football for 9 years.

I don't know what his position will be, but I'm betting it will be more ceremonial than anything. Probably something to keep the Thunder Thornton types happy.

With the NCAA and academic issues ongoing at UNC, why would we be looking at their AD? Seems counter productive to me.

David Blackburn:

Rob Mullens:

Greg Byrne:

Bubba Cunningham:

Just some quick info on some of them.

Thanks! I cannot support anyone who pushes a resume associated with Oregon AD. Why? Nike showers that program with dollars and going to another place will not have a corporate benefactor like that which has an open tap no questions asked. It produces people without the skills necessary to handle other athletic departments IMO.
