Anyone else seeing a new slide up ad (McDonald's coffee) on the mobile site on Andriod?

Sorry already posted. I understand Freak needs to pay the bills, but its hideous and totally annoying

This is what kills me about it.


The dude made a huge deal in the off season with the team slogan being "Own it" and talked about owning up to the expectations this year.


Then he gets pissy when fans are upset that he won't own up to the failures he has.

Asked if Florida beating LSU and missing the SEC east championship is a disappointment.

“You never heard me talk about it,” Jones said. “Never heard the players talk about it. Our goal is to be 1-0 every week, and what happens happens. Again, I’m not going to sit in here and complain. We just won eight games, and that hasn’t been done here in a long time. We have an opportunity to win nine. Obviously we have strong expectations for this football program, but right now, I’m going to talk about the win and talk about our seniors and how far our football has come.”

That's not really owning it. He came out later (after he got backlash from fans, media, even some former players) and said their expectations are championships. But he obviously was too prideful and tone deaf to throw the fans a bone and say "We are disappointed, but we did this to ourselves. We had a chance to make win the east two weeks ago and failed. But I'm still proud of our guys and we still have a lot to play for"

An important part of being a leader (being a champion of life, if you will) is being able to face and admit your own failures and disappointment. Butch has shown that his ego is too big to be capable of that. Let's see how he opened his press conference the monday after the USCe loss:

"Somebody told me this,” the fourth-year UT coach said, “and I think this puts things in perspective: You talk about the negativity that’s out there, when we gain our next victory, it will be three straight years that we become bowl eligible, that will be the first time it’s happened since 2002.”

C'mon man. I get taking pride in your accomplishments, but this is begging to be praised for something that is expected to be your floor. I hate UF and Tim Tebow as much as the next Vol fan, but let's contrast what he (as a twenty-somthing, no mind you) said after an unacceptable and disappointing loss:

“To the fans and everybody of Gator Nation, I’m sorry. Extremely sorry. We wanted an undefeated season. That was my goal, something Florida has never done here. I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this.

You will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season. You will never see another player push his team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of the season. You will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season. God bless.”

THAT is how you own expectations. UT fans would rally behind Butch if he could swallow his pride, have some humility, and say something like this after he disappoints. They would love him for it.

Instead he deflects and whines about negativity.

I could not care one iota less about Butch's sound bites.

You guys can obsess, and breakdown his every word, critiquing and analyzing till the cows come home. I just want him to continue to improve this program.

Les Miles couldn't put together a coherent sentence half of the time, and I'm still not sure Orgeron knows how to English.

Just win, Butch

Happy Thanksgiving, you bunch of knuckleheads!! As crazy and idiotic as some of you are, I still love coming here to get away from the every day grind of life and discuss something that we all love (well, except catbone and a few other trolls on here)...Vol football. Have a blessed day!

I am not getting it on my laptop. I am not sure if it is my work firewall or if my Google Chrome is stopping it. I see plenty of other ads, so not sure. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving, VN!! I hope it is an enjoyable day for us all with our family and friends.

I'm usually that way. I get that he's just giving coach speak. It doesn't really bother me.


What bothers me is when he starts complaining about people reacting badly to his coach speak.

By now he should have the sense and experience to realize that if he treats the media and fans with disdain and refuses to speak to them like a human being that he's going to get some backlash when things aren't going well.

....how is he not owning the loss???? Its easy to pick and choose what we want to hear but it pretty much says right there that it starts with him.

That's a good quote.


He should stick to that more often instead of "we're bowl eligible again...thank me please!"

At some point your record over a long period of time with multiple different head coaches is who you are.

All the complaints about Butch right now are identical to what people were saying about fulmer in the mid-2000s. Recruiting is inconsistent. Always loses 3 or so games. Starts to make you wonder if it is the coach or the limitations of the program in this modern era of college football.
