Most people think he's on thin ice? Who?

If we beat Vanderbilt, he's getting a raise, and maybe a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

Maybe my definition of thin ice differs from yours.

It is nuts on here man. This place feels just as toxic as Dooleys last couple of years...that is crazy..We are 8 and freakin 3, not 5-6 sand sweating a bowl trip. Considering the injury situation, it is almost a miracle. I have seen less intense injury bugs completely destroy other teams seasons, and our idiot fans ***** about the MANNER in which we WIN....this is nuts.

I know it would NEVER happen.... but what if Butch takes another job, and in an act of desperation before he leaves, Hart decides to re-hire the one and only Lane Kiffin. And in 2017, he takes the Vols to the SECCG and defeats Saban, causing him to retire during the post-game interview.

Would all be forgiven?

Just like when Meyer replaced Zook & Florida went backwards..oh wait they won a national championship.

Zook took over a dominate program and ran it in the ground. Butch has taken a once great program that had fallen to the bottom of the barrel, and rebuilt it into national relevance....That was a stupid comparison.

-Hubbs on Butch.

He's gonna leave if he gets an opportunity, IMO.

Who was the most beloved Tennessee coach within the last 25 years? Bruce Pearl. Yeah, he won a lot, but so did Jerry Green. The difference is, Pearl was transparent (believe me, the irony of his downfall is not lost on me). He was human. A Jewish guy from Boston made himself fit right in in East Tennessee. He acknowledged expectations. He admitted mistakes.

This is not to say that being that way is a job requirement. He wants to know why he's not loved with his record, he should look at Bruce Pearl. Personality goes a long way, and he's obviously got one. He's had too many recruiting successes not too. He should show it to the fans.

OK, the booing-- good example. Every fanbase does that. I paid particular attention to this last weekend. There was booing in every game I watched. Announcers casually commented on it-- "Here comes the booing," etc. Nobody acted like it was any big thing. It's mostly younger fans and I don't think they're all that upset when they do it. It's not a UT thing; it's everywhere-- at college, HS and NFL games and it's not usually rancorous or personal. Most coaches ignore it, so I'm not sure why it bothers CBJ so much.

False. Pat is the most beloved coach within the last 25 years.

I mean telling the fans " Fukk you" and then lying ab it was kinda lame too. I get the fans being upset but it's to a point where it's pretty extreme. I see both sides. Our fan base is one of the worst for sure. They embarrass themselves like no other. This season has been very weird. I don't know how to feel. Hoping for a sugar bowl victory though.

Bad comparison of their situations. Maybe not of performance (still too early to tell, IMO).

If Butch were to pick up recruiting to being elite again and sting together two more 9 win seasons, then based on performance it becomes a more valid comparison.

Hindsight is 20/20, but thank God Dave Hart will be gone. And our bball program was still trash with Zo here. But he did get some decent talent.

Yeah, being one point away from the Elite Eight is pure trash. Overall, I was not impressed with Cuonzo, but he did have that nice run in the tournament that punched his ticket out of here.

Really makes me wonder how different he is behind the scenes. When you watch the guy in press conferences, it really makes you wonder why so many of the big time recruits he pulled (the ones without ties to UT at least) would ever want to play for him.

I haven't been to any high school games lately, but you have heard booing? Why are people booing high school kids? That by itself shows where we are with society. I just didn't get the booing at that time in the TTech game. We were up 35-0. I can understand the booing when we are down before the end of the first half and sit on the ball (although ironically, it has worked out most of the time he has done it).

Thanks for that synopsis! You are wise.

Because he doesn't trust the media. I am not sure I would either, but you have to be careful because the media will help fans turn on you. The media has a job, but this is a new age for click bait and things going viral on social media.

Pat Summitt. She was a master at handling fans and the media. "You win with people."
