BTW, the national media escalated this. The majority of the headlines and memes are national sports sites. They would be doing the same exact thing if the coach of any major program lobbed them a quote like this. CBJ isn't going to be immune if he goes somewhere else. The same sites making fun of him now will make fun of him anywhere he goes if he continues to make himself a target.

In the SEC, and especially at a storied program, you either meet expectations or you show improvement. In case you haven't noticed, he's still showing improvement. And with the possibility of getting to a New Year's 6 Bowl Game, it would be asinine to even contemplate replacing him at this point.

BabyVol made an interesting comment about him making a move, possibly lateral. That would just be embarrassing to lose a coach now. It would imply that Tennessee isn't a destination job.

People should be careful what they wish for. Jones has built this team up, and as long as he is making strides, he should have our support. We don't have to like everything he does or says. But he's coaching our team.

Where did BabyVol say that?

If he bolts, I'll be upset.

Mostly because of the timing and the fact that we'll be left with a lame duck AD to find a new coach though.

As far as Butch goes, I'm happy he came here and thankful for what he's done. I think he deserves another year or two to show he can reach the next level and get to Atlanta, without a doubt. Those calling for him to be fired are talking out of their behinds.

AND I think we've seen about what he's capable of this season. He'll win the games he's supposed to and maybe drop an unexpected one along the way. He's our Bo Pellini.

But honestly, I wouldn't be too upset about keeping around a coach who will win us 8-10 games a season for quite a while either.

We will have an AD before Christmas.

Hindsight is 20/20, but thank God Dave Hart will be gone. And our bball program was still trash with Zo here. But he did get some decent talent.

Zo got really fortunate with the timing of Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabbs recruitment. Neither of those guys would have come to UT.

From where I sit, there are lots of accusations of complaining, but I haven't read that much complaining.

People complaining about complaining, but that's about it. Oh, and people accusing other people of wanting CBJ fired when nobody has said anything of the sort.

So you are complaining about the people complaining about people complaining? What a negavol. You must have a miserable life. You sir, are the reason we can't get a good coach.

;)

There's a thread on. It says win or lose against Vandy, Jones should be fired. It got a lot of support. I'm sure there are more threads. It's been said. Over and over.

if butch leaves who would we even go after? Herman is heading to Texas and jimbo is heading to LSU so I guess we have to try to compete with FSU to get a guy like Larry fedora. Coaching options become pretty limited after that. Strong and miles have solid resumes but just got fired from big time jobs because they under performed. Then a guy like PJ Fleck hasn't proven enough to warrant getting the UT job.

Tenn has NEVER EVER been a destination job. That said, it would be mine. 😉

I'm with you. There are many things I love about Tennessee football but our fanbase isn't one of them. Lots of good folks but on a whole we are a miserable bunch. No sense of loyalty to the team and program. Just a bunch of spoiled children that demand championships or coaches heads and nothing in between.

I guess that one consensus national title in the last sixty five years really spoiled us.

No sense of loyalty?

People are still buying tickets.

Please. Calm down. 🙏🏿

Speaking of our DT situation, when are we going to see Mosley and Bain in the middle? They would surely help clog the middle better than our current situation. Use both of them as the nose tackle to clog, and rotate Vickers and Phillips and Mixon at the other tackle.
I was thinking the same thing bout Big Charles. I think Bain is still hobbled by an ankle injury.

There have been very few that have called for Butch's job. I like Butch and hope he succeeds here, it's the best thing for Tennessee. However, you can like Butch and hope he succeeds and have diminished confidence in his ability to win a championship here.

I don't think Butch will be here much longer. It wouldn't surprise me if he left this year. He's been here four seasons. That's one year more than he's been at his other stops. I think he tires of being at one stop very long. I think when the honeymoon fades he gets uncomfortable. I don't think he'll be here beyond next season.

Butch has done a great job here by almost every measure except win the east. He's had a string of terrible luck this year with injuries. FL got extremely luck with scheduling this year. (I think it's a travesty that divisional records don't determine the champion but that's a subject for another time). We are graduating more players. Less players are in the media for the wrong reasons. He's done a great job.

Yes. Yes, I am. It's all about me, me, me, and I'm the reason we can't have nice things.

Some of the inconsistency has to do with OL/QB play as well imo.

Edit
Debord and the offense as a whole I mean

I agree, but you can tell when he is being aggressive and when he's not. The biggest example of this is when Dobbs runs. They were reluctant to let Dobbs run at times I.e. App State, Ohio, GA, Bama and SC. All of those games our offense struggled. In the other games Dobbs ran and we dominated offensively. That's the strange part and is part of the inconsistency.

Good lord I am one of the most negative (I'd like to think realist) dudes on here, but in no way will it be good for this program to have Butch leave at this point.... yes, he needs to shut his pie hole at press conferences for a while unless he actually decides to have something real to say and not sound like a robot, make some serious changes to the staff at the end of the season in order to start really developing kids to their full potential, but no, he does not need to leave. If he can overcome his living in the "Jones denial bubble" and do what is best for the program and his longterm career here, he should be okay and UT will continue to grow and develop. If he stays with his current mindset, he will screw himself out of a job. Pretty simple. Case in point-- where are all the high level recruits we should be getting for a program supposedly on the rise and who has improved the past 3 seasons in a row? Exactly.

That's in the football forum. We claim no responsibility for what goes on over there. Seriously, all fanbases have their crazys. It's not unique to Tennessee.
