I'm driving this morning and I hear our local media trying to dissect this Jalen Hurd thing and figure it out. I can't believe that fans and media (who cover sports for a living) are actually buying this tight end crap from Hurd and his "camp."

1. Biggest reason that story is bogus.....He refused to go back into a game. What does that have to do with wanting to play tight end for another school?

2. He is not an NFL tight end. He is too small.

3. He is 6 months away from getting paid. He will enter this draft and he will make a roster. Although like has been said, there's a lot of good backs in this class and he is behind all of them.

4. If he transfers, he would have to learn a new position.

5. If he transfers, he would have to sit out an entire season.

6. If he transfers, he would enter the 2019 NFL draft.

7. If you believe LWS, he was not hurt in the UGA game. He let his mouth overload his butt. Further proof that he is a cancer and not a guy who has just decided he wants to play tight end.

8. If you believe his idiot relative, then he held the coaches feet to the fire demanding a scheme change. Yet, we are now to believe that he doesn't even want to be a running back.

It isn't rocket surgery guys. Hurd's actions show the reasons he is gone and it's not because he wants to play tight end.

I am leaning more to the fact that teammates and coaches didn't want him back on the team and told him to take a hike.

I agree with what OG said earlier- it is very concerning because this season was supposed to be special for this team and us long-suffering fans. All off season we heard how hungry this team is and based off the incredible effort from last year, of course we would believe that. And then shockingly we look flat and uninspired in game one, making mistakes galore and quite honestly- very lucky to have won in OT! I wanted to believe it was just rust or first game jitters. But then we did it again , and again, and again - coming out looking slow and unprepared at times. Turnovers and penalties galore when that had been very low last year. And then last week honestly looked like we didn't want to be there. It's not like our season was lost last Saturday- we had EVERYTHING to play for after a Bye week for god sake and look like that . I blame a little of this on what we now know about Hurd and his drama. I have no doubt that caused friction and distraction on the sidelines and affected the offense to a degree. But it seems like something else is wrong and it's been wrong since week one. Something or several things must have occurred during the offseason to create this. I guess we may find out eventually and who or what is to blame. I wonder if Butch has come close to losing the team and it didn't just occur in these last few weeks but during the offseason? It's just so frustrating and disappointing. GFW mentioned he could no longer support Butch and to me , that is pretty telling. He would know more than most of us.

Butch has got his work cut out for him the rest of the season. If there truly is thus much descension on the team he'll have to do some uncomfortable things. I'm not sure he's capable.

Head coaches live and die by the assistants they hire. He's made some poor decisions in that regard. He's not going anywhere this year barring a total collapse but his seat will be very warm next season. It will be interesting to see what the new AD does with his contract.

Descension: the act of descending or decreasing altitude.

Dissension: disagreement or argument

This vocabulary PSA brought to you by the VFLs trying to maintain levity and optimism during this dark time in this season. Who said I didn't mean descending? :loco:

2. He is not an NFL tight end. He is too small.

I agree with most of what you said, but Hurd has the size to play H-back in the NFL. Without a doubt.

He's already bigger than Delano's Walker. He'd need to put on some weight, sure. But he's 6'4 240. He's got the size to play TE in some scheme or another. He may never be a hand in the dirt in-line TE.

But he's got the size and skill set to play TE.

1. Ziti, you've redeemed yourself from last season :hi:

2. So... most of us had this as a 2 loss team. One bad loss, and everyone's lost their minds. Good thing no one else has ever lost a bad game in a season. :zeitung_lesen:

3. Everyone thinking we could beat Bama with a skeleton squad suddenly thinks that we are guaranteed to lose against the slaw left on our schedule. I hope our players have more sack than our fans. Still looking at 9-3... but let's just burn down the house.

4. Florida can absolutely lose to Arky, and I would favor LSU over them. Could still get to ATL, which was the goal, but the USCe game takes away all the joy of the season I suppose.

This is good stuff Nick. I think my biggest beef is, maybe besides the FL game, there hasn't really been one game that the Vols have come out on the field and crushed their opponents. It has made this entire season, despite the wins, difficult at best to enjoy.

The SC game just puts a bow on it...

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Hurd was booted.

He was an ass since last year. He's done this type of crap before in HS.

Josh Malone almost didn't come here because he disliked Hurd. Some say that was false but I'm not so sure.

He was getting benched by the fanbase and national media and couldn't turn the narrative as his play didn't out do the other RBs.

Not voted captain as a three year starter but the alleged back up was.

Even with the family version as the only source, a majority of the posters turned on Jalen. I can't imagine how much worse the truth is.

I think that Butch made a deal to play it as a transfer and position change for his mother who has been a voice of reason for the last three years.

Why is it satisfactory to just beat our rivals? Is that what Tennessee is now? Georgia is absolutely terrible. That win isn't special.

We're two lucky plays from sitting st 3-5 right now.

It's been known since the day he was hired that 2016 was our year. SEC east title or bust. Well it's now a bust.

I look at the season so far from a different perspective...we are a few plays away from
being 7-1.

I realized something with the bama game. It seems that saban marks one game each year as The Game. It is circled and planned for all year. I think Tennessee has been that game since 2015 when Tennessee embarrassed him even with their last minute victory.

Hyam Lives!

:hi: :)

Fair enough. I just looked at NFL draft board and he is probably on the small side for draftable tight ends but not by much.

I'm going to edit my post a bit on that point.

I'm not jumping on the hate Hurd bandwagon, but I personally have thought he's acted like an ass on the sidelines and in game solely due to his demeanor. I'd say your are absolutely correct.

Interesting theories. Especially given her FB post
