Thanks. That was the only point I was making. Can't argue with facts.

It really wasn't though. You were using that stat to say that the coaches have utilized Dobbs' legs just as much as last year.

And that stat alone doesn't give you enough information to make that claim.

I don't think you fully comprehend the counter-argument people are making to you. That or you don't want to entertain any thoughts that could possibly conflict with your way of thinking.

Give me a 5th year healthy JRM. Doesn't get better than that. Dude is another breed.

Need players behind him too. LB recruiting must be much better. Not all these projects either. Go get some real backers. Ignont was a good start. We need to continue to load up.

Auburn has done it this year with their recruiting. Their LB class is nasty. The Moultry kid is a flat out monster at MLB. Wish we could've pulled him personally.

Surely he is better than the high school senior that beat us right?

This is inaccurate info based on how ESPN stated things but that QB is older than the other true freshman QB on the team that had started earlier in the season. He was intentionally held back a year by his parents for the purpose of allowing his father to coach him longer in football and because there wasn't much age difference between him and his older brother. He then graduated a little bit early but he's no where close to HS senior and is older than the regular freshman.

Yeah he'll be 19 come November far from a 17 year old kid they are painting a picture of.

1. Ziti, you've redeemed yourself from last season :hi:

2. So... most of us had this as a 2 loss team. One bad loss, and everyone's lost their minds. Good thing no one else has ever lost a bad game in a season. :zeitung_lesen:

3. Everyone thinking we could beat Bama with a skeleton squad suddenly thinks that we are guaranteed to lose against the slaw left on our schedule. I hope our players have more sack than our fans. Still looking at 9-3... but let's just burn down the house.

4. Florida can absolutely lose to Arky, and I would favor LSU over them. Could still get to ATL, which was the goal, but the USCe game takes away all the joy of the season I suppose.

Not being negative, but I think the concern of many fans that allows them to think we can't win out against a remaining slaw schedule (in which USCe is slaw) is that this team showed they didn't have any sack Saturday night. They had everything to play for and didn't even run out of the tunnel. Now, their hopes hinge on needing Florida to lose 2 games. What makes anyone think they will show up every week the next 4 weeks? I'm skeptical, and I wasn't one of the ones that was skeptical before Saturday night. I have been upset all season that I have to go to a continuing education conference in Orlando during the SECC game, which prevents me from going to the game. I have said for many years that the next time we make it there, I am going. Now, I probably don't have to worry about it.

I think about the only thing I've said since Saturday night is the thing that concerns me with Butch is he has lost all of the great things he did as a coach, that I believe made him different from many coaches. He's not a good Xs and Os coach, obviously. However, he always had his teams ready to play, well prepared, highly motivated, physical, willing to run through a brick wall for him, never quit attitude, high energy, and extremely disciplined. This team has pretty much been NONE of that this year, minus the don't quit attitude the first 7 weeks. Saturday night, they didn't have to not quit, because they seemed to have never showed up. Why is this the case? Those attributes he used to have in his teams made him unique, but he's lost it this year. That's my biggest concern, because how do you get that back? Someone mentioned the Neuheisel comment from a long time ago, and I wonder if there's a lot of truth to whatever it is that Butch shouldn't have to deal with behind-the-scenes. Just my 2 cents.

I think that the fact that this loss likely costs us a trip to Atlanta is what is grinding most of our gears. That, and the fact that we look very undisciplined and unfocused with all of the penalties and turnovers. South Carolina played pretty well, but they did not play lights out and they still beat us. That is what is getting to me, at least. I will always support our team and our coach, regardless of who it is. I really hope that this team can snap and clear.

Wow that's pretty impressive considering people are bashing her son. It's hard to not get mad when people attack your family. Interesting that they were against it. I wonder if his dad in Cali had a lot to do with this

I think his dad is Vol74 on here, and is the driving force behind a lot of this and the decisions that Hurd has made. I think he has also made things very uncomfortabke for Jalen in the locker room with all of the drivel that he posts on here, which ends up in other places. Jmo

For those who don't venture into the FF, here's a note from Jalen's mom on FB. Classy of her to do this, IMO:

"While it was not my choice for Jalen to leave Tennessee (and we were adamant about this), this is a decision that he put a lot of thought into and certainly did not take lightly. It is not my place to discuss his business and the reasons that he’s decided to transfer, but at the end of the day, he believed that it was best for everyone. People are mad, hurt and very upset, and I understand that. Yet, the reality is if you don’t know what he has been through or what he is going through now, then it is very easy to speculate & judge, make up lies & rumors, or heaven forbid, actually believe them.

Jalen has chosen a different path. We don’t always agree with our children’s decisions, but nevertheless, you love and support them through it all no matter what. Thank you to all of our family, friends and Vol supporters that were so kind to us today. We are so thankful and appreciative to the University of Tennessee, the coaching staff and the wonderful fans for all the love and support throughout the years. Many blessings and much success to you all. 💕"

"What a turn of events"

Lol. In many context sure but damn almighty in this context it is cut and dry. Dobbs has more rushes per game this year than last. You can't spin that it is a cold hard fact.

Need more data Bruin. Also I want to see how many designed runs he has had this year vs last. Also this season isn't over. Need a game by game breakdown.

Anybody else find it funny that VOLS fans were claiming all the injuries were going to cost us another game, and when we actually lost this place when insane.

Not saying injuries are the reason. Even the biggest homer would admit there was some horrible coaching coming from Tennessee's sideline.

That was Dobbs' worst game as a vol. Outside of one run he was so bad. The Florida game has been his only good game this year. He was okay against Georgia and VT. The rest he has ranged from bad to horrible. I think he has regressed. It is completely unacceptable that we don't have a proven QB coach.

This.

The 6 day option CBS is contractually entitled to makes it really difficult to plan logistics for out of towners. Night kick means you can drive in morning of and get a hotel Sat night. Noon kick means you can drive down Friday night and be home by Saturday night. Hotels typically get more expensive as you get closer.

Pretty ridiculous they couldn't rule our game out, but I guess if KY beats UGA and some other things happen we could be the game of the week.

What is Sheridan's qualification to coach QBs? That he has played it before? Did he even run the read option once?

Maybe he is a good coach and Dobbs just isn't clicking with football, I don't know. I do know Dobbs' can't even set his feet from shotgun with no pressure or read a defense after playing here for four years.

Big Dobbs fan here. But his play hasn't been good enough this year.

Dobbs is just not a very good QB. It's that simple.

IMO Dan Mullen is another guy who is good but can't make it to the highest levels.

He got Mississippi State to the #1 ranking for the first time in their history. I'll grant you that it was with Dak Prescott but, show me any coach whose had sustained success, recruiting or winning, in Starkville.

There's a reason why they're the ONLY school with a sub .500 record in the SEC.

I think he'd do an excellent job here.

I'm driving this morning and I hear our local media trying to dissect this Jalen Hurd thing and figure it out. I can't believe that fans and media (who cover sports for a living) are actually buying this tight end crap from Hurd and his "camp."

1. Biggest reason that story is bogus.....He refused to go back into a game. What does that have to do with wanting to play tight end for another school?

2. His NFL future as a tight end is uncertain and he is draftable right now as a RB
Another NFL source had doubts that the transfer and position change is the right decision for Hurd's future. "That's a bad choice," he said. "He didn't fall that far (on NFL boards).

3. He is 6 months away from getting paid. He will enter this draft and he will make a roster. Although like has been said, there's a lot of good backs in this class and he is behind all of them.

4. If he transfers, he would have to learn a new position.

5. If he transfers, he would have to sit out an entire season.

6. If he transfers, he would enter the 2019 NFL draft.

7. If you believe LWS, he was not hurt in the UGA game. He let his mouth overload his butt. Further proof that he is a cancer and not a guy who has just decided he wants to play tight end.

8. If you believe his idiot relative, then he held the coaches feet to the fire demanding a scheme change. Yet, we are now to believe that he doesn't even want to be a running back.

It isn't rocket surgery guys. Hurd's actions show the reasons he is gone and it's not because he wants to play tight end.

They never finished a year strong. Always frauds. Pass as a HC

I tend to agree. IMO he got booted for his attitude.
