Saw this mentioned on VQ...

Rich Rod is doing pretty bad at Arizona. They are 2-6 right now. He may get fired.

If he does, is that Butch's first phone call if he wants to replace DeBord?

There you go. He replaces one mentor he brought in as OC with another another mentor he brings in as OC. And lets DeBord downscale his duties as a position coach. That would be a very Butch thing to do.

Yeah, this job has aged Butch quite a bit.

It's not just Debord. It's Butch. Everything I've heard and we have all witnessed is that he is going to run his offense.

He has to let go of his ego and go get some guys that just want to coach and he has to stop protecting his back side in thinking he's hiring his successor. You have to have that win at all cost mentality.

Why do you think Debord was brought in. Someone that wouldn't cause a fuss and that butch could micro manage. Debord is a "Yes" man. That was one of the worse hires not just in TN but in the country. How does the AD let that happen? And don't get me started on what is our AD. That in itself is an embarrassment on another level.

Every since Fulmer was let go, they have just self destructed the program to the point of it being embarrassing. Butch has done some good things, got us to be competitive and good classes. But it's year 4!!! And now prized recruits are jumping ship??? Mid season at that?!?!?!? WTF!!!!

This is going to get lost here, but whatever...

Two mechanics look at the same car, both see the same issues.

Mechanic One: This car is not working right. You need to get a new used car that doesn't have these problems.

Mechanic Two: This car is not working right. I think if we change out your radiator and get some new breaks, you'll be in good shape though.

Same problem, but two different solutions. The trouble is... you never know what problems that next used car is going to have. Could be A LOT worse. You may not even be able to find a good car on the market.

That's the two approaches on VN right now. Most everyone wants to jump into the unknown, while a few of us know that there are problems, but think switching out a few parts gives us a great vehicle.

That's deep man. But if you buy a Lamborghini, and there's a few available, that things going to run great and better than people messing around with used car salesmen. We have the funds, make the purchase.

I swear I've seen posters that rarely post come out of the woodwork since things have gone south.

i think some vol fans actually enjoy the drama more than winning.

For those who don't venture into the FF, here's a note from Jalen's mom on FB. Classy of her to do this, IMO:

"While it was not my choice for Jalen to leave Tennessee (and we were adamant about this), this is a decision that he put a lot of thought into and certainly did not take lightly. It is not my place to discuss his business and the reasons that he’s decided to transfer, but at the end of the day, he believed that it was best for everyone. People are mad, hurt and very upset, and I understand that. Yet, the reality is if you don’t know what he has been through or what he is going through now, then it is very easy to speculate & judge, make up lies & rumors, or heaven forbid, actually believe them.

Jalen has chosen a different path. We don’t always agree with our children’s decisions, but nevertheless, you love and support them through it all no matter what. Thank you to all of our family, friends and Vol supporters that were so kind to us today. We are so thankful and appreciative to the University of Tennessee, the coaching staff and the wonderful fans for all the love and support throughout the years. Many blessings and much success to you all. 💕"
