1. Ziti, you've redeemed yourself from last season :hi:

2. So... most of us had this as a 2 loss team. One bad loss, and everyone's lost their minds. Good thing no one else has ever lost a bad game in a season. :zeitung_lesen:

3. Everyone thinking we could beat Bama with a skeleton squad suddenly thinks that we are guaranteed to lose against the slaw left on our schedule. I hope our players have more sack than our fans. Still looking at 9-3... but let's just burn down the house.

4. Florida can absolutely lose to Arky, and I would favor LSU over them. Could still get to ATL, which was the goal, but the USCe game takes away all the joy of the season I suppose.

Reasonable post for the upsiders. Never count out the Vols. Does P-Willy and now Hurd leaving help by subtraction? Hope so.

For the sake of argument what happens if UK or Vandy beat them? FWIW I don't believe it will happen, but also now acknowledge it could if team unity is messed up. Reality is we only have one DT that was in our 2 deep rotation. We still have LB and secondary issues if Cam does not get clearance - and he will be rusty. We have no banger now at RB. We still have injured O-line. Debored is still the OC.

I am always shocked at how people fail to listen to what Butch and his assistants say when they explain things. He explained it is a gap scheme run game a couple of years ago. Many of the handoffs to RB's are designed to be straight hand offs and not reads by the QB. It has the look of being zone read.

Not saying it should work. I think his thought process on it is flawed and it wastes a lot of plays.

Not sure if you are agreeing with me but were on the same page. Sub "QB keep" instead of run in my last post. Our line would have to be much better for the straight handoffs from shotgun to work consistently. Our lines been trash for 3+ years so they don't. If there's no threat of a QB keep they key in on the rb and it just doesn't work.

Who's to say JG even stays if we got a new coach. His family seems to be tight with CBJ

No one thinks about repercussions. Like who would possibly follow a coach who was fired after improving wins each season, and played games with double digit starters injured for over half of the season this year.

I really can't stand the thought of dropping another game. Especially to a team like Vandy or UK.

Until he goes 9-3?[/QUOTE

Without some breaks, we are 2-6. Can't say otherwise. We are an average team that got lucky, a bunch!!! Not saying we aren't talented but we are just too damn predictable

. Don't wanna hear about injuries. What, other teams are fully healthy? No,they game plan, they adapt. We run the same 10 plays on O, or it at least seems that way. How many of y'all can predict what plays we run? I'd say we, as a group would be in the 50-70% Range on guessing what is called, and that's from a bunch of FANS!!!!!!!!!

With 4 less turnovers we could be 7-1 even with injuries. See anyone can play this game.
Luck and making breaks is involved every year. No Stoener fumble, then no National Championship.

Kelly is a very tough runner. He was pulling kids along with him for extra yards on multiple runs last game.

Agreeing. The gap scheme will not work without strong O-lines. It takes away the threat of half the field on the handoff and it is way to slow to develop against SEC D's.

I couldn't get past Cutcliffe because the positive thoughts it created made me hate you to my core.

Cutcliffe is a QB whisperer.

I will say this. Plenty of head coaches that will make unbelievable offensive coordinators will be fired at end of season. That is the type of coach Butch will need.

I think the easy knee-jerk reaction is to want immediate change. We all know that Butch is going to be here for at least another year while the administration is settled, and maybe longer based on the contract.

We've already seen staff changes rumored and in the case of the OL basically confirmed. Butch will need to make the adjustment and hire the right people and let them do their job.

Exactly.

The same cats saying "no moral victories" for the close losses last season are the same ones trying to take away the actual victories this year.

Unbelievable. Forever alone.

Prior to the past Saturday many people were assuming 10-2. Based on what I saw against SC, I would say that assuming we go 9-3 is entirely premature.

Losing to a team like SC in year 4 is totally inexcusable.

This is going to get lost here, but whatever...

Two mechanics look at the same car, both see the same issues.

Mechanic One: This car is not working right. You need to get a new used car that doesn't have these problems.

Mechanic Two: This car is not working right. I think if we change out your radiator and get some new breaks, you'll be in good shape though.

Same problem, but two different solutions. The trouble is... you never know what problems that next used car is going to have. Could be A LOT worse. You may not even be able to find a good car on the market.

That's the two approaches on VN right now. Most everyone wants to jump into the unknown, while a few of us know that there are problems, but think switching out a few parts gives us a great vehicle.

Right. Lots of inexcusable losses happen every year in college football to very good coaches.

Tell me about Tom Herman... or how Justin Fuente got handled by Tennessee.

Car owner: Nothing is wrong with this car. I have to add water once a day and I have to plan on stopping a quarter mile early but other than that she's puttering along just fine.
