Butch leaving at the end of the season means he still controls the narrative and his coaching destiny, even if it means going to a lower-tier program with less pressure and lower expectations. UT would come off poorly if he left and he would come out smelling like a rose, especially with a 10-3 or even 9-4 season.
I cannot believe there are folks that are already comparing Jones to Dooley. That is just flat out insane. In the 3 years that Fooley was our coach, we had only 1 bowl appearance (which was a loss) and our team got worse every year. We were a dumpster fire by the time he was fired.
On the other side, Butch has gotten this team out of the gutter in the SEC east. The team's record so far has improved every year, and we are 2-0 in bowl games. Has he and his staff been perfect? No. However, I think they have done a good job so far. I'm not saying that Butch is going to be our long term coach yet, because he still has a good amount of room to improve. However, I don't think he should be on a hot seat at this time. Considering the enormous amount of injuries, especially with key players, I'd be happy with a 10-3 record. I do think changes with some assistant coaches will need to be made this offseason.
or nothing but.
Well can't argue that but most the things he was saying came true and the reason he is quitting.
I don't necessarily believe any of that. Stinks on both sides IMHO.Please.
It's not the truth. It's just the story the Hurd camp is using. And guess what, if you have a "camp" then you are the exact type of person who would hold your team/coaches hostage while you're winning and then quit mid season like a punk.
Anyone who believes the tight end garbage or the concussion garbage just because some loudmouth uncle posted it needs to take a deep breath and think how crazy it all sounds.
We are talking about a guy who complained after a newspaper wrote an article talking about how great he is.
He wasn't concussed at UGA and he isn't gonna transfer and sit a year to play tight end. Get a clue people.
