Butch leaving at the end of the season means he still controls the narrative and his coaching destiny, even if it means going to a lower-tier program with less pressure and lower expectations. UT would come off poorly if he left and he would come out smelling like a rose, especially with a 10-3 or even 9-4 season.

Don't think he'll leave this year. Season's a mess and that hurts his market value. And UT's in no position to urge him along. With no Chancellor and a lame duck AD, we're stuck. Both should have been easy hires. One Tennessee-- what a crock. Some of these people can't even agree on where to send out for lunch.

I cannot believe there are folks that are already comparing Jones to Dooley. That is just flat out insane. In the 3 years that Fooley was our coach, we had only 1 bowl appearance (which was a loss) and our team got worse every year. We were a dumpster fire by the time he was fired.

On the other side, Butch has gotten this team out of the gutter in the SEC east. The team's record so far has improved every year, and we are 2-0 in bowl games. Has he and his staff been perfect? No. However, I think they have done a good job so far. I'm not saying that Butch is going to be our long term coach yet, because he still has a good amount of room to improve. However, I don't think he should be on a hot seat at this time. Considering the enormous amount of injuries, especially with key players, I'd be happy with a 10-3 record. I do think changes with some assistant coaches will need to be made this offseason.

Yea I agree. Dooley seems to be the to go guy when everyone really wants to insult a coach. lol

I just hurd we are going to have a couple more spots available for the 2017 recruiting class.

If so, how many more 4* and 5* studs should we be expecting?

No but his uncle has done a pretty good job of it.

Not exactly, right? An anonymous poster on a public forum made unsubstantiated claims in direct conflict with statements made by others. I'm not taking up for either side-- I don't have enough facts to make a sound judgment.

or nothing but.

Well can't argue that but most the things he was saying came true and the reason he is quitting.

Please.

It's not the truth. It's just the story the Hurd camp is using. And guess what, if you have a "camp" then you are the exact type of person who would hold your team/coaches hostage while you're winning and then quit mid season like a punk.

Anyone who believes the tight end garbage or the concussion garbage just because some loudmouth uncle posted it needs to take a deep breath and think how crazy it all sounds.

We are talking about a guy who complained after a newspaper wrote an article talking about how great he is.

He wasn't concussed at UGA and he isn't gonna transfer and sit a year to play tight end. Get a clue people.

I don't necessarily believe any of that. Stinks on both sides IMHO.

Being out of the gutter is simply not good enough for UT. We have been in essentially the sam place for the last three years. Yes, the volume of wins has gone up, but other programs have gotten worse in that time. UGA, USC, and Missouri are not as good as when Butch arrived. So, that explains the win total, but I just can't see where the quality of product on the field has gone up appreciably.
