"I think most people knew when they saw us running out of the I in the bowl game what we were doing/ trying. I just wish that they would have been honest with him if they never planned on deviating from their scheme - ever."

So butch is a liar? Nice.
Positive post in the midst of Volnation hell.
John Kelly on #Tennessee's plan going forward: "We're just going to keep working cause there's a lot of football...
Tennessee's Evan Berry...
LEADS THE NATION with a 34.2 career KR average
& RANKS 2ND NATIONALLY with a 32.9 avg in 2016
With 3.0 sacks on Saturday, Tennessee's Derek Barnett now 29.0 in his career - THE MOST AMONG ALL CURRENT FBS PLAYERS!
26.0 in @SEC play!
So, just to get this straight.
Year 1: 5-7
Year 2: 7-5
Year 3: 9-3
Year 4: 5-3
First win in a decade over FL. Win over division rival UGA
Losses to a single loss (AL) A&M team, when player execution with turnovers was clearly the issue.
Loss to Bama
Loss to USCe, which was a bad loss
and everyone is ready to fire Butch and enter into the coaching foray with Texas, LSU, likely Oregon, Notre Dame and more?
Any coach would look at that above and lol, as he took any other job under the sun.
It's a bad loss, and there are issues to correct. Sadly, it looks like most of you have taken the stance of choosing to be miserable and hoping for failure so "the inevitable" comes sooner, rather than later.
You may certainly prove to be right in the end, but to say this is the demise of Butch Jones is laughably premature.
Not trying to be a smarta** (ok, maybe I am just a little), but outside of recruiting what has Butch done that should inspire faith in him moving forward?
.
It's more than just the last 3 losses though. If our guys had played good, disciplined football and just come up short, most of us would probably be fine. It's really a combination of multiple things that has pretty much convinced me he won't ever get it done. I think it's a combination of the following things:
- Discipline has been extremely poor this season
- Offensive production (statistically and on the OL) is comparable to 2013 and 2014 despite a huge increase in talent and experience
- Has lost at least one game each year that he should have won (this trend has gotten worse the more his teams have had to play for)
- Hasn't taken advantage of the East being the weakest it's been in decades at all
- Mismanagement of some of the most naturally talented guys he's brought in (North, Preston, Hurd)
- Lack of player expected player progression compared to recruiting ranking of a number of players
- Stubborn unwillingness to adapt offensively that has hurt the team every year he's been here in one way or another
- Recruiting has fallen off
And it's all made more frustrating because the guy won't even come out and give an honest interview about the things we're seeing on the field. Not saying he has to divulge any team secrets or anything, but his robotic coach speak is really grating.
I can't think of a single human moment I've seen from Butch in his 4 seasons here thus far. It's been straight up coach speak and sales mode since day one. If you're winning games, you can get away with that. If you're not doing so well or are underperforming, people will start to resent you for it.
The first 3 seasons his team's played with great disciple. So why isn't that something to point to as a reason for hope?
it looks like we will improve our overall record for the 3rd strait year under butch with a victory over florida, so lets fire him, even though half the team is injured and the qb has been hot steamy poo. later idiots
