I know Hurd has already been discussed, but in the FF there are some people who have heard that in the Georgia game after Hurd scored the touchdown and went through the end zone after his stupid boneheaded fumble previously- he went to the sideline and told Butch that he'd like to see him win an effing game without him. My gosh.

We won quite a few games without him since he loved to disappear in a lot of games.

Some players are unhappy with the way the roster is managed and their role within the system. CBJ is very invested in his system, which is complex to learn. It has complicated routes, plays are slow to develop and it really needs a pocket passer. Some of our players aren't a great match for his system, but CBJ wants them to adjust to its complexities, rather than adjust his scheme to fit our personnel. Kiffin, OTOH, does the opposite-- he tweaks his scheme to fit the strengths of his personnel groups.

So we see players out of position, running the wrong routes, failing to complete routes and Dobbs struggling in the pocket. With our OL, plays don't have time to develop. Everybody gets frustrated, and over a long, grueling season, the frustration grows and the blaming starts. The talent of our players has been allowing us to win, but a few ugly losses brings out anger, disappointment and resentment. The team needs a good win.

Great Post-- people need to stop defending Butch, Debord, and this system... clearly it needs to change. Period.

Now Swain confirming the team meeting and mention of "several" players who have quit the team. Hurd and Kongbo were mentioned specifically my god. Any mention of this on TOS?

If true- GTFO! I am so tired of this generation's entitlement attitude. You have the privilege to play for the University of Tennessee and get a free college education, but when the first sign of adversity hits and things don't go the way you want them to, you act like a little spoiled Biotch and quit?! Really? Whoever quits on their teammates, the University, and the fans who cheer for them, are not going to get far in life if they quit and run every time the going gets tough.... Really, GTFO. I may not like this staff right now and the decisions they are making, but these kids made a commitment to themselves, their teammates, and the University, so nut the F up and finish what you started.

There is a guy on twitter saying there is a special team meeting tonight and that several guys want to quit. Swain only confirmed the team meeting from what I see.

Correct. Swain said there is a team meeting tonight.

Some guy I've never heard of said he heard a few players quit.

Lmao Hurd is so soft man

And Kongbo is on his 3rd school already. Not really surprising.

So lame but if these are the types of guys we have then I don't want them wearing the orange.

I'm not bashing the coaches. We just don't have all the right players to run CBJ's system the way he envisions it. Sooner or later, this is bound to cause frustration between players and between players and coaches. Ugly losses and shattered dreams bring all sorts of negativity to the surface. If only they could have pulled out the W...

Well they're the players he recruited.

If Hurd quits, he's throwing away MILLIONS of dollars. He can't be that stupid.

Yeah, I'm not buying that he quits.

It really won't affect Tennessee very much. Individually, it's about the dumbest thing anybody trying to get a shot in the league can do.

Is it mainly players on O? Or is the D seeing issues (other than Martin)?

Both. IDT any of them have formally requested a transfer or officially quit, though. Cooler heads may prevail. Everybody's just really, really PO'd and hurting right now.

I've thought for a while that there has to be something overly complicated about our offense. These WR have to be thinking too much to be dropping so many balls, and our OL first steps the wrong way often and is always looking around like they're not quite sure what they're supposed to be doing. Just seems like part of the problem is players having to think so much instead of just playing. No way our WR are all just that bad at catching the ball, or our OL are ALL just too slow to get in front of DL far below SEC level.

Don't really care if Hurd quits or not. I'm so tired of the entitlement generation, so soft. John Kelly is a better back anyway and he gives it all on every run. Why in the hell this coaching staff hadn't picked up on that earlier is beyond me.

Be careful letting the rumors run and being part of giving them steam. Who knows reality, and the media will dig it up eventually.

The barage of negative stuff always follows a loss like this. They are never all true, but they are never all false either.

Nice post. I would much rather see everything get worked out and the team come out unified for the sake of the Seniors and our beloved School.

Yeah, if that's true, it should have never been voted on whether he comes back.

He shoulda walked back to Knoxville after that.

Don't know if any of this is true, but Butch has went out of his way to give him playing time above all other backs, even though it appears he may be the third best on the Team.. We didn't even really know how good Kamara and Kelly were until the Texas A&M game.
