If you are committed to the spread(I hate) the answer is 2.5 hrs away. Tony Frankin practically invented the scheme.

In a hypothetical where Butch brought in a new OC and let them implement and run their own system, who would you want?

A few thoughts:

Doug Meacham TCU
Garrick McGee Illinois

A couple guys that may be available after the season:

Todd Graham Arizona St
Sterlin Gilbert Texas

Thoughts?

Mark Helfrich Oregon (he was a good oc just not a good hc)

My god this is Dooley 2.0

Butch is barely a better recruiter and Dooley didn't even try to recruit.

Oh wait this is all part of the process and he needs 7 years to rebuild.

Fire his ass and load the money truck up. This is a stacked team in a crap SEC east, perfect setup for anyone who can actually coach.

The injuries to JRM and Sutton have killed this team from a leadership perspective. That and Dobbs gets about as fired up as a wet noodle.

Honest question. Why is this the case?

They're in street clothes, not caskets. Why can't they still be leaders for this team? I've been surprised by how distant they appear during games.

When Maggitt took a medical redshirt, he was still one of the team's leaders on the sidelines. Why the difference?

You need leaders on the field not cheerleaders. Need players who lead by example and so far the only one doing that is DB.

Brick, where'd you get a hand grenade?

Seriously, the hate is so bad that I keep seeing Butch called Dooley 2.0. I get it. It sucks. We should be better, and this is very disappointing. But to make that comparison is just wrong. Not even close.

Thinking (dreaming) about a new OC today is like going to the grocery store while starving... Everything looks great. Every name that gets proposed has me like "YES HIRE HIM, AWESOME, I LOVE IT!!"

Leadership is the most overblown word in sports. When you win you have great leaders. When you don't your leaders suck. Nothing but a catch phrase

That dude couldn't even get into the playoffs, literally never beat a good team, and burned recruiting bridges in his home state. Butch just had a horrible loss, but we've already beaten our two biggest SEC East rivals this year.

But the echo chamber's gonna echo.

Butch has got his work cut out for him the rest of the season. If there truly is thus much descension on the team he'll have to do some uncomfortable things. I'm not sure he's capable.

Head coaches live and die by the assistants they hire. He's made some poor decisions in that regard. He's not going anywhere this year barring a total collapse but his seat will be very warm next season. It will be interesting to see what the new AD does with his contract.

All things that you really can't disagree with. But his accomplishments even now far exceed what Dooley did. Not even close.

Why is it satisfactory to just beat our rivals? Is that what Tennessee is now? Georgia is absolutely terrible. That win isn't special.

We're two lucky plays from sitting st 3-5 right now.

It's been known since the day he was hired that 2016 was our year. SEC east title or bust. Well it's now a bust.
