Then I would expect more of the same.

Checked out some stats on Kelly to expound on his 6-7 yards a pop and he doesn't have any lost yardage. I know it's limited carries but he brings it every carry and keeps his legs moving. Great vision for cutbacks. I'm not sold that there aren't talented coaches that wouldn't jump if given the keys. Talented skill players to work with.

Butch isn't going anywhere this year. He could lose out (yes I believe this). The situation we are in with the AD and Chancellor leaving at the end of the year assures he will be in place.

Now that would all but guarantee that he has to win next year for the new boss. New AD coming in will have no loyalty to Jones.

Tennessee is currently 12th in the SEC in penalty ypg

Currently 13th in the SEC in turnover margin (-5) and tied for 4th worst in the nation with 20 turnovers

Yep, next year will be his audition for his new boss. If there's not improvement I doubt he'll be here after that.

Transitioning to JG and Kelly/Chandler will be upgrades on offense. Hopefully Butch upgrades at OC also. A lot of our problems lie with Dobbs deficiencies and kamara being hurt. Best case scenario is arkansas and lsu beating florida and us winning out, then the transition to the future.

With a new AD coming in butch is literally coaching for his job next season because if next season is like this you better believe the new AD will want to make his mark

Zero chance Butch upgrades anything if we go to the SECCG.

so if arkansas beats florida with lsu looming, and we look sharp beating tech, noone will feel any better?

Honestly no. Last night proved that the coaches don't know how to handle this team. We don't deserve the SECCG. I won't feel good until at least Debord and Mahoney are gone and Butch is completely hands off with the offense.

Agree. Add Z to it for me.

Clearly Butch is not going to take this program where we want it to go. He's in year 4 and just lost to one of the worst teams in the league. Handwriting is on the wall imo.

At this point I'm not sure we beat Ky or Vandy based on what I witnessed last night.

Think we beat UK (only because it is in Neyland) and Vandy worries me as Mason will eat deBored lunch. Worst case scenario would be UF loses two more times and a Vandy lost keeps us from going to Atlanta:thud:

Is this a serious question?

yea it means we shake off last night and pending the lsu florida result we could win out and win the east. its not about winning in atlanta its about making progress as a program after spending a few years in the basement. division champs with wins over our two main division rivals. how soon we forget. nvm lets just hope we lose out and fire our coach and return to the cellar. smh

This is the thing that is driving me nuts. I could handle 5-3 and even the loss last night if we were playing clean football and playing hard, and the players were engaged, and we were losing because we were simply outmanned with the injuries. But we are losing because of things that are entirely within our control. The only optimism I have is that Butch's first three teams were very detail oriented and committed reasonably low numbers of penalties and turnovers. It gives me hope that he can at least fix that.

I'm fine riding with Butch if he can will this team to win out (including the bowl) and overhauls the offensive staff. With those elements, I think he can stay the tide of negativity just enough to continue recruiting reasonably well and get us back competitive next year. But the new AD should have him on a short leash. There's no sense letting him lose the narrative, kill recruiting and set us back another 2-4 years. I don't think many fans could sit through that misery again.

Looking good against an FCS team is absolutely meaningless. Florida can lose two more and still make it to the SECCG as we will likely lose another game down the stretch. Regardless, I have no desire to see this uninspired, poorly coached team get steamroller by Bama for a second time this season.
