What quote my friend?

It's about 3 or 4 pages back in this thread. Said Mahoney's contract wasn't renewed when everyone else's was and that the writing on the wall was more like "graffiti" there. Said Debord had coached for 40 years and is a big family man, I took that as a hint toward retirement. He also said that coaching changes at the end of the season were "imminent."

I don't think there is any doubt about this. I don't think Butch is going anywhere, but his seat will get really uncomfortable if he doesn't make changes. Pretty sure he understands that.

The worst thing about this loss is that it eliminates any hope that I had for this season and going forward. I'm legitimately worried about next year. I think Offense could improve with JG and Kelly, but are the back ups playing good enough this war to think that they will be good next year? I have no idea what to expect next year. This was supposed to be the year

Agreed. We haven't really seen to know what we have in him.

Outside of being obvious comparing the two programs, I wonder why he transferred back. Haven't noticed Colorado's QB play but he had to have had a chance to play there. I don't think he ever gets that chance here. What we all witnessed last night was bad.

I'm not sounding the alarms on next year yet. Butch clearly needs to shake up the staff - that is a must. And he has to reevaluate how he handles the team in terms of fostering leadership and a competitive fire to never be complacent - something went wrong there this year - he may have trusted them to much (I now know why Saban yells at his team during blowout wins).

But there are plenty of examples of coaches who's teams tanked only to have the program rejuvenated within a year or so. Malzahn and Sumlin, to name a few.

Butch just needs to make the right moves this offseason.

There's literally no reason to play the rest of this season. 9-3 does absolutely nothing for this program if UF goes to Atlanta. Nothing to even be excited for now.

SEC east or bust has been the goal for 2016 & that's been known since the day he got hired. Zero excuse for what happened last night.

We're two extremely lucky plays away from being 3-5. Which honestly probably would be better for this program..get Dooley 2.0 out of here & get a real winner while we still have talent on the roster.

Some players don't like how they fit or don't fit in CBJ's system. Some don't like the way the coaches manage personnel. Some don't like being moved around like chess pieces and some don't feel they're being put in the best position to succeed. PW left because of this and others almost left last year, but were talked into staying.

very troubling. butch better modify his approach or its all downhill.

That was end of season.

If Butch truly believes his crap statement about a lot to play this year, he better make some adjustments.

I agree to an extent. But I'm of the mind that unless there is some kind of personal rift, coaching changes like that should only be made if you are willing to give someone else on staff a legit shot to audition. I am just afraid that guy would be Azzani, which wouldn't really be an upgrade.

If Jones really wants to win, I think he needs to hire the most established and successful OC he can and let him bring his own playbook and personnel, only keeping maybe Gillespie on staff.

And Debord is just running Butch's offense..hiring a new guy will do nothing.

Butch has to know he has to change. He has to bring in a new guy and allow him to run his own offense. Now he can hire a guy with similar schemes.

We were getting 6-7 yards running Kelly up the middle and just stopped. Gashed Bama with 2 backs in the backfield and stopped.

Coaches that are successful know they must evolve and adapt. Coaches that are unemployed are usually very stubborn.

Just saw Jimbo's press conference last night.

Give me that guy leading my team anytime. Guy tells it likes he is and sticks up for his guys.

Yep. And we've been complaining about stuff like this from Butch from the get go. It's obvious he's not going to change..its just who he is. Sorry, he tried. Not gonna cut it in the SEC.

Next.

Good post

Good coaches adapt their system to suit their players and play to the strengths of the team.

Poor coaches try to fit players into their scheme no matter what.

I think we've all seen what this staff does.

Watched the game again this morning, which I never do, and it made me look at things from a different perspective knowing we lost.... When you look at the game and take out the emotion, several things pop up.

1. This team has been playing and winning on pure talent and desire, not good coaching... our staff is okay, but not good, and with all the injuries and trying to come from behind without the talent, it shows just how average they are.
2. Speaking of injuries, it is still evident and obvious that we are a different team from the first of the season without key players on offense and defense, which stinks. When we had our slow starts and revved up, we had the talent and depth to close the gap and come through with the win-- we do not have the horses to make any sort of comeback when down by at least 10 points.
3. I don't agree with a lot of folks on here that say the kids have given up. I saw a lot of heart out there at times, especially on D.
4. Overall, considering injuries and lack of snaps, our D played pretty well. I do not know what we are going to do against our remaining opponents if we are down Tuttle... Hopefully we will only be out for TT and Alexis will return as well.
5. Our offense needs a new OC and scheme period.
6. The majority of the loss is unfortunately on Dobbs. This kid is a true VFL and has left it all out on the field, but I think we have asked too much and expected too much out of this kid, he is really just not that good and without surrounding talent, he is exposed as average. He has gotten us some huge wins and led us to many victories, but last night and during other games, he has been our achilles and has stalled our drives for points. Next season I have a feeling things will look different at that position and I am cautiously optimistic about JG running our offense.
7. Anyone who thinks Kelly isn't a beast and can't carry the load is a straight up idiot. So proud of that kid last night.
8. Hurd has checked out for the season, do not expect any fire out of him down the stretch. He is one of the few kids who has given up. Sorry.
9. Butch is about to earn all his money from here on out. How this team performs for the rest of the season is a true testament to just how good a coach he really is.
10. Lastly, the most unfortunate thing about last night is just how bad this hurt recruiting. We were poised to finish out 10-2, go to the conference championship, and show kids we are truly headed in the right direction. I know there are several big name recruits who are on the fence and considering us a long with one or more schools, but wanted to see how we finish. This performance probably shot our chances with several kids and it will be another year before we can grab a few elite kids. I fear we are going to drop back into mediocracy because we can't pull elite kids to come to the program.

He fired his guy last year but he's also not a defensive guy. Butch seriously thinks his system can win in this league. I doubt he makes a change but we will see.

Also, just to be clear since I am always super negative-- I have not given up on these KIDS, I am giving up on this staff until they make the proper changes and show everyone they are willing to make the tough decisions in order to truly win and take the program to the next level
