'17 CT QB CJ Lewis (Former TN commit 7/23/16)

Fields is not playing a very stalwart level of competition on the CT academy circuit. And, he's not setting the woods on fire up there either. At his committment he was the 1200th, or something, ranked player in America. And, his stock has not risen since then. Frankly, like several other of our class of 17 commits, he's not a SEC championship caliber player.
Jerimiah Oatsval out of Nashville would have been a better choice. He plays in a higher strata of competition, ranks no lower than Fields, and he bleeds Big Orange. At least he'd be a vocal peer recruiter in Middle Tennessee.

I can be on board with that if we have to take a QB. I like more orange-blooded natives. But maybe CJ pans out somewhere else on the field (if not QB) that Oatsvall would not. That's the only thing I can think of taking Lewis' commitment. Im not sure Oatsvall fits our offense.

I don't know. Talk about him being a player elsewhere, if QB doesn't work out...

Elite players make plays. If he wasn't the best passer, but an elite athlete, he would be running for hundreds of yards. He's got a highly rated WR. To me, he is not a Tennessee talent, but that's just my opinion. The coaches do what they want in recruiting.

It's amazing how so many people on here know more about prospects than Butch and the rest of the coaching staff.

It's pretty funny. I have no idea how this guy turns out but I recall this board bashing the following when we were hard after them Cam Newtons throwing ability, deondre Francis wasn't any good, Emory jones sucked until he didn't just cuz Trevor lovers couldn't see past him. Dormady sucked. Dobbs after his freshman year was worthless waste of a ship. List goes on. Lamar Jackson probably would have been called a limp noodle heck he might have been no telling

I can hear it now: "Jackson is a three star! He'd never start here!"

It's amazing how so many people take the stated opinion of a poster, and then blow it up to make it sound like a poster is implying that they know more than the coaching staff.

They are opinions, stated as so, based on limited information we have. I guess we could just say everyone is going to be awesome, because that is always the case, right?

This may end up like the Hart situation last year...A kid they saw some good things in at camp, but just didn't show real progress during the season. If he's not cut loose it will suprise me, but I don't know, they may think he is a late bloomer. He sure ain't blowin nobody away with his play.

Where was "opinion" stated here?

I'm guessing you mean Lewis and not Fields?

Are you that obtuse that you can't discern opinion from fact unless someone starts a sentence with "In my opinion"?
