It's never been a problem though.
Like I think Fumbling is just somewhat luck too.
We could very easily have lost to both (!) Appy State and Ohio because of the fumbling. I'd say that's a problem.
I agree that there's a lot of luck involved, especially in who recovers fumbles once they're on the ground. All I'm saying is that this is a team that fumbles a lot and commits a crapload of penalties and seems to take forever to get it going on both sides of the ball. We're halfway through the season now so these are all real trends. This has not exactly been a tightly run ship so far.
Was talking about this earlier. How is it that all of a sudden, we've become a team that fumbles and commits stupid penalities in year 4? That makes no sense at all.
Pressure, maybe? I listened to a podcast this summer in which a national writer used Tennessee as his example of a team which had all the weight of the world on their shoulders. "As soon as you walk in that building you can tell how tightly everybody's asses are clenched."
This is still probably a team that's going to go 10-2 and win the East. I'm still generally very happy at how far we've come. Yet ungrateful as it is, I admit that I'm still a little disappointed that this isn't going to be the championship-level team that we all hoped it would be. The talent was there. So far the level of play hasn't been, at least on any kind of a consistent basis.
Me too. When we're clicking, this team can beat anybody in the country. Which makes it so maddening that they've spent half of every game so far shooting themselves in the face.
Just same crazy ass plays. I agree we've been lucky as hell but the last three games we've just made silly ass turnovers. It's crazy yes but it's not an indictment on the coaching staff IMO.
You don't think the staff deserves any heat for having a point differential of something like -90 so far in the first quarter? Everything is random?
I guess the time to revisit What It All Means is in the offseason. All I'm saying now is that I'm not yet ready to carry the coaches around in a chair when they've got a team with championship-level talent and yet they could easily be 3-3 or worse.
Officials have no ****ing clue what they are looking for. It's all ****ing arbitrary.
