Colin Kaepernick Thread

The peanut gallery scoffs at protesters they disagree with. They don't think it will lead to any significant change, but if the government ends the war on drugs because of the riots, the protests, the people practicing civil disobedience, they will have accomplished something significant and great.

It will have been worth the price. The war on drugs has resulted in so many deaths and exponentially more lives ruined...if we can end it by kneeling during the national anthem and a few modest riots, it will have been worth the price.

Only 3% of our federal prison population committed homicide or aggravated assault. 46% are in there for drug offenses. 46%. Can you imagine how much ****ing money the government would save if we released them? Do you know how many Dads that is? Even if just 30% are good fathers, that will make a world of difference to society.

There is so much to gain. I know this isn't what BLM is all about, but it is part of what it's about. If we can give them this, it will make an actual difference and it will hopefully settle everyone down.

It's an opportunity for a win/win.

I hadn't given consideration as to how the drug laws factor into all of this.

I just think what he is doing is so fascinating. In terms of the vitriol, anger, threats, and financial repricusions these players are exposing themselves to, I think it is very brave. I'm not certain if I would have the courage to do what they are doing.

I'll be interested to see if the national discussion does begin to turn towards the issues Colin is trying to get people to discuss.

The NFL is perfectly fine with a punk like Kapernick kneeling during the anthem but is also likely to fine players who wore shoes with 9/11 memorials. What a league, just another reason why I am about done with the NFL

I disagree with him as much as the next person, but why do you say he's a punk? If he was showing out and distracting with great disrespect, I could agree, but he's not.... He's simply not standing. When I am at a game, I see all kinds of people talking, playing grabass, and tons of other things instead of paying respect to the anthem. They are more disturbing than he is being IMO. You don't know the guy at all, he actually seems like a good human being and I can't remember the last time he has been arrested for doing **** pinks do.

Because I have seen all his tweets and retweets even before this "hey look at me" crap.

Go have a look at your latest heros tweets, primarily all about race and how blacks are so mistreated.

What's wrong with that? He feels as though blacks haven't been treated fairly in this country. Some feel that there is a lot of validity to his opinion.

Everyone is about done, but I haven't yet seen anyone that says they're actually done. Funny how that happens

It's a business and they are at work. I try any political stunts while at my work I'm canned.

The owners can't make them stop but some heavy fines could!

You are probably far easier to replace than most football players are.

...sure. They can bring in another player to replace a player. but to do so, is a loss of time and resources invested.

Additionally, if they let you go... there likely isn't a multiple million dollar cap ramification of some kind at your place of employment.

Finally, what they are doing has zero effect on their ability to fulfill their contracts. NONE.

You're right but it's still a business. How many millions do you think the teams and the NFL is losing on jersey sales of the guys neeling?

Lets be honest it's about having cameras in your face when your irrelevant on the field.

Colin Kaepernick's jersey sales are way up. Arian Foster is not irrelevant. Brandon Marshall is not irrelevant. Your argument is irrelevant.

You apparently don't keep up with the news, because the answer is zero.

No actually you just made my point. They are irrelevant and have to do something like this to get the cameras back in their face.

And my guess on the jersey sales would be George Soros buying them and sending to third world countrys.

No he didn't, you changed your point after you were proven wrong about the jersey sales.

As far as being "irrelevant", Kaepernick is the only one that's anywhere close to being so because of his actual play, and even he would likely get interest from other teams if he was released. Marshall and Foster are not even close to irrelevant yet.

He played in 16 games in 2014. His record 8 - 8. He played in 8 games in 2015. His record 2 - 6. He threw more interceptions in 8 games than Josh Dobbs did all year! Lol He's so relevant if they didn't have him in the leauge they would have to close the NFL office doors.

Ok.....are you attempting to make a point, because I have no idea what you're even arguing against. You're responding to an argument nobody made.

My point is by doing this he is getting hundreds of cameras in his face when before he had none as a backup.

If he wants to protest I say go for it. Using your team as the platform for it during the National Anthem is doing two things. Presenting a huge distraction to your team and his real message is getting covered up by the way hes going about it.

Like I said use Twitter, facebook, call a friendly protest or press conference to discuss or something. Thats why i feel the way he is doing it is really more about him than him worried about a message.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree.
