YouTube will now retain the right to demonetize any videos that contain, “Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, including subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery is not shown.”

The new policy bears some hallmarks of the Communist Chinese government’s “social credit score system,” whereby Internet users are punished by private companies and their peers for expressing unpopular views on social media.

As long as I can watch:
Monthly fails,
Epic rap battles,
Car repair vids,

Meh.

The move is primarily designed to scare away YouTubers from making anti-establishment political content,

Of course this is what it's about. Censoring opposition to the criminals that run the country...just the beginning.

Youtube is private business and they care about their reputation. Let's wait and see how this actually works in practice before we start acting like this is communist China.

It's fear-mongering...seriously "scare away youtubers"? What is scary about having content removed?

Ok, let's wait...

Removing vulgarity and removing opinion is a fine line...

You're missing the point....they can remove whatever they want, including opinions they don't want espoused on their platform. Translation: "Take your neo-nazi promoting music video elsewhere...here is the fine print that now exists."

The only thing that has changed is the language in the policy. It's just a cover-your-butt legal thing since we live in a world where you can sue anyone for any reason at any time.

Huff, tbh this stuff actually scares me. I cannot help but be obscene and terrible. They're trying to send degenerates like me back to the 50s.

No they aren't. Youtube is a cesspool and they don't regulate most of it. Go put whatever you want in the comment section. I doubt it will get moderated. If you are really scared of moderation, why come to Volnation? Mods here are stricter than most places on the net.

I'm not talking specifically about YouTube. What I'm railing against is something that can't be fixed. Its a social movement and we're either going to ride it out or its gonna **** us in the ass. Voting for trump ain't gonna fix it because 'political correctness' is a misnomer. Its an exercise in social engineering that's clearly gotten out of hand. Volprof will tell you its a Russian plot, but he's even crazier than me. Its nothing but good old fashioned stupidity and we're kind of lucky the democrats are too caught up in their globalist game to really harness its retardo power.

Yeah, I agree I don't like our direction but I'm not sure it "can't be fixed". Things that were offensive a generation ago are no longer offensive and vice versa. Things are changing all the time.

If you are a champion of free speech, then where do you stand on this Colin Kaepernick issue?

You can make good sense, and that scares me.

It depends. It can be a very good thing. I'm just against force.....and I assume you mean "social engineering" in the most literal sense.

If people dislike the practices of a private company they can choose to stop using the services provided by that business. If enough people stop using the service, the company will be forced to either change it's policy or go out of business.

tl;dr
If you don't like how someone does business, stop going there.
