We haven't really had many or any true stars since the late 90's and early 00's. Probably the closest thing we've had in recent years was EB.

After reading updates yesterday, I think we will have some future stars but I think the one star we will have is Barnett. He is looking to get drafted high and since the NFL is drafting DEs so high now, I think we're going to see him be an absolute monster trying to make his case to be a top 10 pick.

I think if Kamara gets the right amount of usage. He could be a star but he'll have to make his case by doing the Sproles/Spiller. But offense is a little harder to determine because we have great talent but no one has showed the extra level that stars have except for Dobbs on the ground (you're welcome D4H).

We have 10-15 NFL players on our roster

Honestly, who's the star player that we've had besides Eric? I mean don't get me wrong we've had first rounders and fantastic players but who has been a star?

2010 - Dan Williams - 26th
2009 - Robert Ayers - 18th
2008 - Jerod Mayo - 10th
2007 - Justin Harrell - 16th
2007 - Robert Meachem - 27th
2006 - Jason Allen - 16th

Wished Mayo would have stayed healthier in the last of his NFL career. Great leader.

Thanks Kirby! As I recall, Mayo and Meachem did ok.

OP seems to make a good point that EB is only true first-round, mega-star Vol (many pro bowls and/or first team all-NFL selection) from last decade.

Yikes! if EB is not a star, I don't know what one is......that was one heck of a football player, and by the way, we have several playing in the NFL, and I see other 5* players in jail or bagging groceries.....and don't get me on the Peyton and the Heisman issue.

I think many underestimate Kamara's size because we compare him to Hurd and vice versa. Kamara is actually the exact average height and weight of the average top 50 NFL running backs (5'10, 215 lbs). Spiller is 15 lbs lighter than AK, and Sproles is 5'6 190lbs. I understand where you think AK would fit in a scat back role but honestly he's perfect for the NFL, which may be a reason why he contemplated the decision so much leading up to the draft this past spring. Stating the obvious, yes he looks like a hobbit compared to Hurd and Derrick Henry.

Walk ons too?

Future NFL draft picks

QB - Dobbs, Guarantano
RB - Hurd, Kamara, Kelly
WR - Preston, Malone, Byrd
TE - Wolf, Croom
OL - Hall, Weisman, Thomas, Robertson, Richmond
DL - Barnett, Kongbo, Tuttle, McKenzie, Vereen, Phillips
LB - JRM, DKjr
DB - Sutton, Martin, Foreman, Gaulden, TKjr, Warrior, Berry (special teams)

Who on this list doesn't get drafted?

That's 30 names that are virtual locks to be drafted IMO. And I'm being quite conservative with naming only 30 players cause I left out names like Darrell Taylor, Austin Smith, Emmanuel Moseley, Stephen Griffin, Brandon Johnson, Jauan Jennings, etc. who easily have the athletic ability to be NFL draft picks.

Don't get it twisted This team is LOADED with NFL talent.
