5 star recruits

Really? I wasn't aware that Kentucky generally recruits top 10 classes...

2017 Football Team Rankings

Look at the average star ranking, we're 23rd right now. We've got most of our class committed and they just aren't ranked that highly ranked. This is looking like it will be the worst class since the Dooley/Butch 29tjh ranked class of 2013

I'm not a follower of recruiting because the kids come and go so quick we don't know what we have until the following season when the kids are taking classes. It's just kind of pointless to me at this point, but from what I'm reading over there the recruiting guys seem to think this is far from over. Kids are going to continue to come and go and it's really just heating up. Some of these kids won't own up their commit. U.T. will recruit over some of the current recruits at this point still. It's all still very fluid from what I'm reading.

The 2013 class is looking like a top 10 class right now.

Josh Dobbs
Cam Sutton
Jalen Reeves-Maybin
Dylan Weisman
Josh Smith
Corey Vereen
Malik Foreman

That's 7 starters on a team projected to be preseason top 10 and favorite to win the SEC east from the 2013 class. 4-5 of these guys will be surefire NFL draft picks. All 7 potentially draftable.

That's a damn good class regardless of what their original rating was.

I think what we're finding out is Butch Jones is a little better at this player evaluation stuff than rivals or 247.

and none of them will get drafted and I wouldn't want any of them on my team.

Are you completely stoned out of your mind? Right now Alabama does two things with all those 5 star players... win national titles and stock NFL rosters with more players than any other college team in the country.

I get your hate for all things Crimson Tide, but for crying out loud, the truth is the truth.

They do 3 things, The 2 you listed plus they keep them 5 star players out of jail when they steal guns and do drugs and get caught red handed.

I don't remember any of them being drafted last year. They didn't have many drafted the year before either. In fact I don't think they have had very many players drafted the last 5 years. They kind of have a black cloud around them right now. basically nobody wants to put up with their thuggery. They know salami players will bring you down.

I think 7 were selected in the 2016 NFL draft (Kelly, Ragland,Henry,Robinson, Reed, Jones & Drake) But who's counting? :)

This is the type of dumbassery that can't be argued against. If you don't get that star average is the only thing that matters at this point then you'll never get it. According to you our class is better than clemson's at this point.

The coaches that can win big with lower ranked players are few and far between. Harbaugh was able to do it at Stanford, Kelly at Oregon, Petterson at Boise St, Stoops at OU, Snyder at K-State.

I'll believe Butch can do it when he actually does it. Right now his UT record is good against bad teams and bad against good teams.

Stoops at OU? I haven't look at their rankings but I assume when they were at the top they were bringing in consistent top ten classes at the least (and no, I do not consider them at the top right now. They benefit from a weak conference. Seen by what the ACC Champ did to them in the semis last year.) As far as Snyder goes he has won a lot of games but when would you consider his teams top four outside of the years around 98? I'm honestly asking cause I don't recall. I'm probably about to google it lol.

I just looked. Snyder has an overall .656 win percentage. He has managed to win the division in 2003 and 2012. I'd leave him out of your list.

Is this a misdirection?

Point being 3* guys are very often better players than 5* guys and even get drafted over 5* guys and are better pro's than 5* guys so what is your problem?

Maybe I'm mis-remembering it but wasn't Kongbo a 4 star until Bama showed some interest, then he was suddenly bumped up to 5 stars? Tells you something right there.

Not entirely a fair argument. The sample size of 3 star players is astronomically bigger. On a percentage basis, I would be interested to see who makes it most to the NFL. I would guess 4 stars

Someone here has posted the stats before. As I remember 5 stars are roughly fifty/fifty to be drafted.
