Am I the only one who has a super tough time remembering who we have committed this class. Usually I can name every commit. This year, not so much. Every once in a while, I look at our commit list and just wonder who they are.

Right with ya

Partly because many committed when there was little, to no thread on them. Some because there were 7-8 in a single day, so they didn't get the normal thread exposure

I don't understand. What's so funny?

Everything they said was true. Recruiting dictates who will compete for championships. Our recruiting last year and so far this year is not conducive to us competing for titles beyond 2016.

Other than for the assumption Kirby is already a great coach, they're right. Our instate talent pool will always put us at a disadvantage compared to Florida and Georgia.

That's why this season is so important. If we can win the SEC championship this year, it legitimizes us to recruits moving forward. If not, then we regress back to irrelevance.

2016 couldn't be more important.

It will decide the future of this program.

Its because this is such a bad class. Ideally half of them will be let go by signing day.

UGA fans are convinced beyond all doubt that Smart is one of the greatest HCs in college football already. I hear it all the time down here and have no idea why.

I think it's partly because they haven't had a new coach in a long time, so they haven't had to face the disappointment and doubt that comes after the coach slips up.

A friend here was saying how excited he was about Smart's recruiting and he blurted out that Tennessee never had that much excitement or that good of recruiting with its new coaches. I reminded him Kiffin, Dooley and Butch all signed classes around the top 10 in their first full years, and those included some truly elite talent. Also told him how great a recruiter Muschamp was. He was shocked to hear it. I think it knocked him off his pedestal briefly.

I agree. I'm disappointed with this class overall at the moment, although we have some great pieces in it. But I agree with the view that if we win big we will be pleased with the end result.

I also trust that a CBJ 3 star is generally better than the average 3 star and especially a Dooley 3 star because of CBJ's background. He had to survive on identifying diamonds in the rough everywhere he's been before Tennesssee, so he is used to identifying and developing that kind of player. But still, I'd feel better with a bunch of 4 and 5 stars. More margin for error.

A cbj and a Dooley 3* aren't created equal. I still remember the coaches getting so excited and going crazy when cam Sutton signed. I'm thinking why all the excitement. Mid 3*, not a big time get.

In butch I trust when it comes to recruiting. Now the 4th quarter, that is still a reason for concern

I'm starting to really dislike Swain

Swain is a VFL. His show is entertaining. He is not really an insider, but he does break down the game very well and I think he is funny. He also loves Tennessee. You cannot say that about all of our radio "personalities" in Knoxville.

Lol. What on earth makes these drunk UGA fans think Smart is the second coming?

That's easy. They think every Georgia coach and player is the second coming. When you are that delusional, at least it's not hard to be optimistic and happy before the season begins.

this morning.
Says we have 17 three stars and only 3 four stars.
Where NCarolina already has 5 four stars.
He's not happy being behind that school in football.

It's understandable. It confuses me a bit as our fans are saying it's no big deal where we are recruiting wise as big time recruits are just waiting to make sure we can win the SEC or National Title. Hmmm. Why aren't recruits waiting to see if all these other schools win their conference or more? They aren't waiting because those schools won't likely play for any sort of title coming up. To me the excuse is very very weak. If you can't sell 9 wins coming off the Dooley years, I'm not sure what 10 wins is supposed to magically do.
