The one rule in football I hate

They need to return kickoffs to the 30 yard line. Too many touchbacks. One of the most exciting plays, and they try to take it away

I hate to see the targeting call when a wr ducks his head into contact. When the replay is shown the defender never changes direction but the wr is trying to slide under. It's a bang bang play and no way for a defender to change up at the last second.

Bet you wouldn't feel that way watching one of our receivers wide open have to dive for a catch and not be able to get back up and get a few more yards

No I would still maintain my stance. The QB should have thrown the ball better. It adds to the reasons I think college is better than pro.

The offensive team fumbles the football into the end zone and the football goes out of bounds. So what happens? The ball is rewarded to the other team at the 20 yard line. It's so stupid. Why should the defense be awarded possession without actually recovering the football?

If a team fumbles on the 30 yard line, and the ball rolls forward to the 32 yard line and then rolls out of bounds, the offense retains possession at the 30 yard line where the ball was fumbled. The defense has to recover the ball to earn possession on the field, so why does the end zone have to be different? If a player fumbles at the 1 yard line, and the ball rolls into the end zone and out of bounds, the offense should be given possession back for the next down where the ball was fumbled.

Yes, I was thinking about Pig vs. UGA in 2013, and Anderson vs. Bama in 2005.

Without a doubt. I agree. The most ridiculous rule in football. Makes no sense at all.

I hate the clock stopping after first downs....drags games out FOREVER. I'd be ok if they limited it to the last 2 minutes of each half.

That's rediculous. Why would you want to shorten the game. I bet you get bent out of shape when golf is slow. I'm sick and tired of this golf and games lasting so long. Are your vacations too long?

I think during TV timeouts we should be loud to hinder their communications. From punt to punt, stay loud.

Unnecessary Roughness, if it's a legal type hit, before the whistle, I'm cool with it.
Even if it is unnecessary and rough.

I like Big Hits and I will not lie.

Its garbage we had players getting ejected for clean hits.

Just do like they did on FG attempts and take away the tee and force them to use a holder for kickoffs.

I hate the having to maintain possession on a pass catch if you hit the ground out of bounds. But, you can drop the ball a split second after you 'break the plane' of the EZ. My beef here is that the EZ is a magical line, but OOB is not.

And I hate that you can fix a ball divot, but not a spike mark on the green.

I think the best way to handle this is like a touchback or touchforward, the ball would be spotted at the 20 yard line. Offense keeps the ball and the previous down counts

That's quite an interesting proposition. It overturns the only penalty in the sport which results in a change of possession. I like it.

The Dooley rule. We should be allowed to have 13-16 players on the field when we are on defense at all times. Only us though. No one else.

It's considered a touchback, just like a kickoff (live ball) going out of the endzone.

When around the goal line taking care if the ball is important. The touchback rule applied to picks and fumbles in the endzone. Shouldn't that be a safety?

Yeh the defensive encrochment has to go lmao

I think it is dumb when a defensive player gets a penalty if he moves, and without making contact or crossing into the line of scrimmage, his team looses 5 yards because his action "causes the offensive lineman to jump" before the snap.

The offense knows the snap count. Back in the day, the O-Line had to be disciplined enough to remember it, and not jump up and claim,"but the mean old linebacker scared me."

I think defensive players jumping offside should be a dead ball, automatic 5 yards. same as a false start penalty on the offense.

Defenders can go from a hand down to standing up. They can shift up and down the line. They can back off the line.

But, if they jump past the line of scrimmage....it's a dead ball offside penalty.

It's here to stay. The science is too strong and the potential liability is huge.

I understand but I think they are hit and miss after reviewing it. The Moseley targeting call was, imo, terrible. I honestly think they call it and stick with it if it's a big hit which is BS.

lots of rules are different around the end zones. Like holding or PI or safeties. Targeting enforcement sucks. I love big hits bad much as anybody, but hitting in the head directly should be the rule, not anything above the shoulders (or above the waist in some cases, see Mosley). No other rule is a "close enough" rule. Defenseless receivers are a joke. If they play offense they are always defenseless.

I especially agree with the part of advancing the ball 20 yds. That's crazy.
