I'm over the instate guys. We had an opportunity to have an incredible class based off them alone. Fact is we recruit national. Can still have a great class. But let's not sugar coat this, we have work to do in securing our borders. Butch has got to work on relationships with coaches instate. I know he held a coaches clinic for HS coaches in Tennessee last year. Did he do that again?
So now Butch has to work on relationships with coaches instate? Has he not been doing that for the past 3 years?
I ask this only out of a small amount of concern as I thought he had been doing a pretty good job at this already. And you also have a kid in HS ball so you have more inside info into that than I do.
Possibly, but I think that isn't as big of a concern now as how off the path we have been over the past decade.
Hopefully Butch continues to repair those relationships. Need them now more than ever with how instate talent is increasing.
I have several friends that coach here. They all had great things to say about that camp last year. Need to continue things like that.
Have they said anything in regards to the relationship UT is building with HS coaches across the state? Are they getting better or is there still a lot of work to be done?
Definitely better. My concern is (and I have not heard this) he will become complacent with those relationships that he worked so hard to build early. With all these satellite camps invading Middle Tennessee, we need him to step it up.
Completely agree. I'm not a huge fan of these satellite camps myself. But I see how this helps kids get more time with coaches to learn a thing or two. Still, it just puts even more stress into the job of coaching. More moving parts to have to look out for which we know the NCAA doesn't do a very good job at anyway.
This is from Wiki, and yes I know that's not always a very reliable source, but it was the first thing I found just now.
It also runs public health advertising campaigns, and organizes projects such as the Relay For Life and the Great American Smokeout. It operates a series of thrift stores to raise money for its operations. The ACS participates in the Hopkins 4K for Cancer, a 4000-mile bike ride from Baltimore to San Francisco to raise money for the society's Hope Lodge.[12][13]
The societys allocation of funds for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2010, lists 72% of funds for Program Services (Patient Support 28%, Research 16%, Prevention 16%, Detection and Treatment 12%). The remaining 28% are allocated for supporting services (Fundraising 21%, and Management, General administration 7%).[14] This meets the Better Business Bureau's Standards for Charity Accountability: Standard 8 (Program Service Expense Ratio) of at least 65% of total expenses spent on program activities.[15]
In 2012 the American Cancer Society raised $934 million and spent $943 million prompting a national consolidation and cost-cutting reorganization.[8]
John R. Seffrin, former CEO of the American Cancer Society, received $2,401,112 salary/compensation from the charity for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.[15] This is the second most money given by any charity to the head of that charity, according to Charity Watch. The money included $1.5 million in a retention benefit approved in 2001, to preserve management stability.[16] Mr. Seffrin's compensation for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2012 was $832,355.[17]
The Better Business Bureau lists American Cancer Society as an accredited charity meeting all of its Standards for Charity Accountability as of January 2012.[15] Charity Navigator rates the society two of four stars for fiscal year 2011.[20] According to Charity Navigator the society is directed to "eliminating cancer" and destroying it.[3] Charity Watch rates American Cancer Society a "C", stating that the Society devotes 40% of its annual expenditures to administration, fundraising, etc., with the other 60% going to fund programs.[16]
Is there a team out there that has more against them than UT?! My god, I agree with Aesius whereas other programs have media and others in high positions in their camp, we have the exact opposite. And why the hell are we not at this camp?! I thought Buck and Butch had a good relationship no?
:detective:
Despite having a disappointing recruiting season so far, we still have a very legitimate shot at signing the #1 player* in four different states (Smith, Gibbs, Akers, Foster). That's something to be positive and excited about imo.
Also an outside shot with Wills?
*Depending on what rankings you look at
