What do you want Butch & Co. to say at SEC MD tomorrow?

The Talking Points Butch Will Actually Use:
  1. Team 120's theme is Own it! And we will.
  2. It's a process.
  3. We're finding a way to finish up the third stage of our growth into the kind of program Tennessee expects to be.
  4. I have great confidence in our coaches and players, it's all about family.
  5. The Battle at Bristol promises to be a fun one. See you there. But first, our focus is 100% on Appalachian State , a very good football program.
The Talking Points Butch Will Wish He Could Use:
  1. Own it!
  2. Stop riding my azz about the damn chart. This is 2016.
  3. McElwain, just don't lose to Tennessee, huh? Let's see about that.
  4. Muschamp, you are seriously deranged, so I'ma whup your butt.
  5. This is the youngest Tennessee team since...nah, just kidding. Bazinga!
  6. My men Sutton and Reeves-Maybin and Kamara came back after passing on a bazillion NFL bucks to join their brother Dobbs for a special season. Let's have one.

Don't forget about being 13-5 our last 18 games and "finding those 25 points".....you can bet your bottom dollar you'll hear him talk about this.

Will say, The reason to come to TN is to compete for Championships.

What that means, See you in Tampa.

Go Vols!

LOL couldn't even wait until tomorrow could you. You will probably have a hard time getting to sleep tonight being so anxious to "shred and sparse" every word Jones utters tomorrow looking for hidden meaning so you can bash. SMH

Has anyone been to media days before? I'm thinking about checking it out in person but don't know the etiquette. Hotel lady didn't have a schedule for when the team's come to the lobby

I'd like to hear Butch grab the reins and say it's time.

I'd also like to see Dobbs, Reeves-Maybin and Sutton act mature and be professional - don't talk **** like the UF players.

Basically, I want them to set the tone for the season and show how serious they are about getting it done now.

Thoughts?

I don't think we have to worry about our three being classless like the Florida trio was. Florida has always been classless and always will be

Butch frequently uses slogans.

Seriously what is with you and the butthurtness every time someone says anything about Butch?

Whenever Jones is done there will be several (everyone knows who they are) who will dissect every word looking for hidden meaning. They will take things he says completely out of context as they have done routinely.
That's what they do and they will bash and cry about every word he say

Yeah and that's why I think he prefers cliches and coach speak. Fulmer was much the same way. His press conferences are a waste of time but there is no harm in that. It's not his job to be an entertainer.

You mean coach speak? I laugh at idiotic statements and at people who want to take his comments out of context to make things he says fit their agenda. He is not a loud mouth quote machine and I'm very glad about that. He represents UT very well. We've had loud mouths th previous 2 head coaches and they were embarrassments.
And like I said, I knew your hero and a few others will pounce on every single word and twist and sparse his words and whine about his presser. It's old hat. But some fools think it's "cool".

Don't say "it's time"

He who shall not be named said "it's time"

Well we need to panic about a 18 recruit.

No panic just a fyi wasn't Trevor the one who wanted to play where peyton played wanted to do everything peyton did? I just find it odd that both 5* qb's go to Clemson that had so much intrest in tn.

It's a year away. And with UT signing Guarantano he may not want to face the competition.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think myself and some other posters (usually the ones you always fuss about) say negative things about Butch?

Competition doesn't bother him... He will probably commit to UGA in the next few weeks. I don't think he likes our system. He is class of '18 though, so things can change.

Butch needs to bring out the Orange kool aid and solo cups.. Pour a glass for everyone and pass them out.. Then say.. "Drink up boys" followed by "no more questions"

Honestly, I won't really care whatever he says.

But I would like to see a little more candidness from Butch. Sometimes his coachspeak is kind of dehumanizing (perhaps paradoxically, since it really does seem to be a part of who he is). I'd like to see him relax a bit and give some off the cuff observations or answers to questions, even if it's only 3-4 times.

He said "red team" once...and "best staff in America". Mebbe he noticed we can't handle off the cuff very well? :)

And get national attention.
He shouldn't leave and not take questions, though.
Just have SEC staff pass out the koolaid or put a pitcher of it on the podium with him.

Remind me to NEVER go to war, fight a fire, or protect citizens from violent protesters with some of you. YOU SIMPLY COULD NOT HANDLE THE PRESSURE. I'm feeling like I'm among middle schoolers again.,,,
Clemson destroying us??? Sit down Billy and be quiet!!!

He/she has an emotional problem....perhaps a side effect of toxic shock syndrome, maybe left a tampon in too long? Who knows? There's no doubt that he/she definitely fashions himself/herself the VN Resident Nanny though. Such a joy to have on a message board.

Off the cuff ain't Butch's thing, he knows it, so he hits the cliches and coach speak like a madman. Nothing wrong with it IMO. Just hope he talks his players and their experience up rather than pulling out the obscure reason why they may not succeed. I honestly think we don't get any of that this year and that'll be a good thing. I think he'll embrace and talk about meeting lofty expectations in 2016.

That's actually a decent point. For my own selfishness, I prefer him to say a few other things, but unfortunately there is always that vocal group that would tear it apart.

What little I hear of him speaking to the players, like the pregame speech for Georgia, is awesome.
