Goff was already there and Wentz was already getting 1st round buzz.

Not true. He was considered a draftable prospect at this time last year but nobody was saying first round.

The first time I saw him listed as a first rounder was January right before the senior bowl. And even then it was as a low first round pick in the late 20s. He only jumped into the top 10 after the senior bowl.

Please find me a mock draft that had Wentz as a first rounder at this time last year.

I can actually find you a mock draft that has Dobbs as a first rounder RIGHT NOW.

The 0 draft picks go hand-in-hand with the blown leads last year. Other coaches are telling recruits that CBJ is a bad coach who chokes away big leads in big games and hurts players' chances at an NFL career. Once the seeds of doubt are sown, they're hard to overcome. I think we're seeing a lot of that right now. Players like UT and CBJ, but those nagging doubts will be there until we win some big games.

Yup. The negative recruiting is working right now because Butch Jones has given them ammo.

He needs to man up and win big games.

Glad to see there is more recruits getting payed conspiracies. Wouldn't be a good recruiting season without them. Too bad they are usually 99.9% false..... it's funny how guys/handlers/parents get so much money and nobody ever gets caught. People need to quit complaining about it and realize it's never going to stop until the NCAA actually penalizes players and teams for it or a player and school is embarrassed on national TV

Watch and see what happens this year.

Most of the draft prognosticators haven't watched any film on the upcoming prospects. They just go off star hype and college stats right now. Its what leads to foolishness like Christian Hackenberg being #1 on draft boards at this time last year and Carson Wentz being a nobody.

I love Derek but he has limited NFL upside. He's a tough gritty player who plays hard but he's undersized (6'3" 260) and not very athletic. Guys like that invariably drop once the NFL begins poking and prodding at the combine.

Dobbs on the other hand is the opposite. He's a guy with limitless potential that has so far not put it all together. His size, arm, and athleticism are 1st round caliber. I'm saying he puts it together and has a monster year.

Once he does that he shoots right by Derek on the draft boards. Expect the same with Sutton and Hurd as well. Both will be drafted before Derek.

You're making my stomach churn with this Derek Barnett nonsense. GTFO

Everybody should block the Higgins thread-- and Hunter Johnson's, too. The defectors are getting more attention than our recruits and our legit prospects.

I tried to LIKE this 100 times and I just IGNORED D4H and have never enjoyed this board more.

10 other guys on the field man.

Ole Miss talent is weak. I think Georgia does to them what Florida did last year.

You mean the game is not played mano e mano?

Seriously, obviously it is an 11 man game, but I would not really call Ole Miss' talent 'weak'. Per Rivals over the last 4 years UGA's classes have ranked #9 while Ole Miss' have ranked #.13.75 Both teams have a lot of turnover this season. And some of the talent UGA has recruited during that stretch are starting for Louisville now.

And for someone who touts the significance of Dobbs to our success this season it is sort of funny to see you trying to downplay the QB role at another school. The disparity between Kelly and anyone UGA starts at QB this season is huge. Kelly threw for over 4000 yards last season and ran for over 500 more yards w/ 10 rushing TDs. Lambert threw for less than 2000 yards and 12 TDs, and had -39 yards rushing w/ 1 rushing TD. UGA's other alternative is a kid, albeit talented, who has never taken a college snap. Add to that the fact that Kelly and Ole Miss scored 43 pts on the Tide last season in Tuscaloosa while Lambert and UGA managed to put up a goose egg against the Tide in Athens...with a healthy Chubb.

Considering that UGA had no answer for Dobbs last season, and considering Smart had no answer for Kelly last season, I look for Kelly to have a field day against UGA in Oxford.

"This past March, Ledbetter was arrested on two misdemeanor charges related to trying to get into a club with a fake ID and underage possession of alcohol. But the district attorney declined to press the charges because he wasn’t sure he could make the evidence stand up in court."

Yep. Nothing like those elected DAs assessing misdemeanor alcohol charges and deciding they can't move forward because it would be too hard to subpoena the door guy at the local club or the cop who busted him with a drink.

This hands on reasoning happens all the time with "regular people."

Amazes me that the media just lets that slide.

Guys making 7 figures a year with their jobs at least somewhat dependant on the whims of 17 year old kids and their usually financially challenged families?

You are right...that's not a set up for corruption at all. 👍

Major recruiting negative for UT here. Everyone knows after watching the 30 for 30 on Bernard King that UTK and Knoxville police have no love for Vol athletics. They get no breaks...

"Do we have too many 5* players in the state to afford them all?"

"3* players with good upside are probably a better fit for our program from a lot of different perspectives."

Was never said by Bama nor AU fans nor Bagmen...

Wow, Kirby may recruit great, but this shows me he won't be very good running a program.

Inmates will be running the asylum before long.

Of course. The privilege of playing for a program that is covered by newspapers and media outlets full of UGA homers

fyp

Seriously, most of the top SEC programs can get away with murder because their local news outlets are full of fans of the school. But in Knoxville/Nashville, the media is determined to sink the Vols permanently.

I agree. Its documented pretty well the local media doesn't "protect" the football program the way a lot of others do in other states. Its been that way for quite a while. Knowing that, the players just have to make better choices. I believe the kids have been doing a good job of staying out of the news for the most part.

Ledbetter getting released on a $2,000 bail makes me think. How is it that a collegiate athlete getting bail like that doesn't count as an impermissible benefit? If they got him out of jail just a few hours later, surely it wasn't a family member that got him out. I doubt he made his one call to mama and not to someone affiliated with the team.

Yep. Just another obstacle Tennessee has that other schools don't

You do realize a $2000 bail means only $200 cash right?

I've always wondered how that works. So, whoever pays the bail never gets that $200 back? And is it always ~ 10% of the bail amount that is payable?
