Yeah, it's been a new vibe lately. Differing viewpoints and rational debate is cool, but man. We need football.

The Higgins thing set everybody off. We're going into the season with a shiny new DC, three seniors that decided to hang around and win some games instead of going to the NFL, and more talent then we've seen at UT in at least a decade (maybe a decade and a half).

This should be a happy time.

Hyams bringing the heat on Twitter. Echoing what GFW said. Sounds like the 16 class will have about 10 studs minimum.

I love what he is saying about the receivers, especially Byrd. Every since I watched him in the army bowl I've said the same thing. Future first rounder. That guy is going to be special

Something tells me Byrd will be a bigger part of this offense towards the back end of the season than some expect. Also losing Higgins sucks but it wont be a big deal in the long run. Not talking bad about the kid but I don't think he'll be as good as his rating is currently. Hope I'm wrong for his sake.

Agreed. It sounds like we are really set at WR.

George, Johnson, Williams, Callaway and Byrd all drawing rave reviews so far.

Add a healthy PW, a reliable Josh Smith, and a hopefully breakout year for Malone and we are looking great.

He's spinning the WR situation to try to get folks off the ledge from loosing Higgins.

It is good to hear that Callaway is already considered to have the best hands on the team. I'm hoping he can be that alpha at WR that we haven't seen at UT in several years. I feel like him and P-Willy could make a formidable combo over the next two seasons if all goes well.

What does Hyams mean by "most tight knit"?

Well knitting is a craft whereby yarn is linked together using two elongated needles. This process can be used to make a variety of items from sweaters and caps to blankets and coasters. Depending on the item being crafted, the knitter may desire a looser knit that allows more air and light to pass between each "stitch". A tighter knit will allow less air and light to penetrate between the "stitches" protecting the body or item behind the knitting. When a team is considered "tight knit" they are very close and do not let outside influences affect them. The look out for each other and help each other improve instead of working against each other. The overall effect is a better team effort and strong players.

I know you know all that and were asking more specifically about this group but I'm kind of in a mood today. Felt like being a smartazz. Sorry for taking it out on you. :hi:

I just opened the Higgins thread for the first time in a couple of days. Wont make that mistake again. Thread ignored

I put that thread on ignore as soon as I saw he committed to Clemson. Was no way I was going to read anything in there.

You have it backwards...Dooley tried to breach his contract or something by talking to UNC, I think. It was something along those lines. He basically knew he was in over his head and wanted out, but wanted his multi-million dollar buyout too. Hart said negative.

I need to keep a file of the who-said-whats so I can keep all this junk straight. I guess it doesn't matter so much in the end.

Start an insider's prediction thread.

I was talking more about the "secret history" than I was the prognostication side of things.

You know, like exactly how close Gruden came to being hired. From "they didn't even talk to him" to "he was assembling his staff until the 11th hour." Those kinds of things.

Here's a thought.

Dormady should pass for more yards in week 1 than Dobbs.

IMO after UT is up 3 scores by halftime and the run game has dominated, I'd like Butch to sit Dobbs. Let QD run the offense and give WR recruits a taste of what the pass game can be.
