Tennessee 12.5 favs over the gators

Then get you some action on the game and clean up. I mean don't let this golden opportunity pass you by. It's like getting Apple stock early.

Gambling on college football is illegal in the state of TN or a lot of people would get on this line.

Nobody with their own money and any sense would bet Tennessee with that over the top line. It's a sucker bet. You may believe that Tennessee is gonna win, but anybody taking Tennessee as a 12.5 point favorite is a fool.

There are a number of Florida gator fansites.

Why do you wanna spend all your time here slobbering all over them?

I know people say that the past doesn't matter, but gamblers sure as heck pay attention to it. So, I did a little research.

The last time Tennessee beat Florida by 12.5 was in 2003. The last time Tennessee beat Florida by 12.5 in Knoxville was in 1992.

The last time Tennessee beat a decent opponent by 12.5 in Knoxville was in 2009 when Tennessee beat a Georgia team that ended the season 8-5 by 26 points.

They also beat a 10-3 Cincinnati team in 2011 by 22 points, but I was not sure you all would want to count that one....for obvious reasons.

So, say what you will, but gamblers pay attention to trends. An example is one that I point out every year which is that you can count on the Tennessee-Georgia game being close.

With all that being said, 12.5 is a ridiculous betting line

When's the last time Tennessee had this much talent?

History only matters if talent stays the same. There's a reason Vegas set the line where they set it. They know Tennessee is a MUCH BETTER team.

Its one thing to poke a cat. Its another to poke a bear. Your players have been celebrating this streak a lil too much. Against inferior competition it doesn't matter. Kentucky for example can't do anything. Tennesee in the past couldn't do anything. Against SUPERIOR competition, though, it's a recipe for disaster.

Your guys pissed off players more talented than them. Sorta like when Klay Thompson and the Warriors made fun of LeBron. They woke a monster. And I think Jalen Tabor woke a bunch of monsters in Knoxville.

I think Vegas can feel that coming.

and yes, I would be worried about laying 12 points with a team that has crapped in their pants repeatedly over the years when playing the gators with equal or better teams.

We may very well win but there can't be any value in taking vols laying 2 td's vs a team they have lost to what..19 out of the last 23? 11 straight? uh uh..not me.

Please tell me when this has happened?

Because outside of 2015, I dont remember the last time we were favored against Florida.

Florida vs. Tennessee betting preview and pick ? Early money makes Vols a favorite | The Linemakers | Sporting News

Tennessee has only been favored against Florida 3 times in the last 11 years.

-1 in 2015
-2.5 in 2014

And the 3rd time I'm guessing is 2005 since we opened the year ranked in the top 5.

So during the 11 year streak we've been favored a grand total of 3 times. With those spreads being less than a FG. I wouldn't say we were ever better than Florida during this recent losing streak.

Given Vegas' track record, I feel good about our odds to win this year.

It shouldnt be close. But it will be. No doubt.

This aint ya daddy's gators. And it definitely aint his Vols.

These are teams going in opposite directions. And the team heading downwards gave the team heading upwards a summers worth of bulletin board material.

41-13 Vols win.

That'll be the score.

I wonder who posted this last season.

The Florida game won't even be competitive
Y'all are worrying about nothing. Did you see the Washington/St. Louis game today? Matt Jones was running wild. Florida had more players drafted than just about every team in the SEC. And yet they still only beat us 10-9 with our best QB watching the game.

If we closed a 24 point margin with Oklahoma in one year to a double OT game, then I'm sure we can close a 1 point margin against Florida.

The game will be over after 3 quarters. 27-10 Tennessee.

Georgia is the next real game we play.

I was right for 3 qtrs. 27-13 aint too far off from 27-10.

Little did I know Butch Jones would crap the bed in the 4th.

We'll be too good in 2016 for his crappin the bed to have much effect.

41-13 Vols win.

if you go 9 years without watching a rivalry game you aren't really a fan

I watched some of em. Like the one Trey Burton scored that ridiculous TD.

I just knew we weren't good so I paid it no mind until Saturday and if no other good game was on I tuned in.

Why be invested if your team sucks?

Tennessee football gave me no reason to have any faith till 2014 when Butch signed that first top 5 class and Josh Dobbs emerged against South Carolina.

That's when I realized this team might have something special.

Oh I'm making money on that game, sir. Hide and watch. And did you really quote the same thing twice with two different responses? ? That's why I love you, RV. Lol.

It's like training a dog. Repetition is key.

But... we love kicking field goals against them. And we lost.

Kicking fg's, and setting ourselves up for the need to call defensive TO on set-to-punt 4th down situations -- several things to work on here, imo.

Their spring game was designed to make him look good...

This is true. They had 1st team offense going against 2nd team defense all game. So, yeah. He made some plays that he probably wouldn't have going against the starters.

BUT, coach Mac and Nussmeier are really good at developing QB's. (Grier last year and a couple who played for that team from Tuscaloosa)

So what happens in Neyland/Knoxville when we beat the lizards this year? I would guess this line will come down to around 7 time GameDay rolls around

Wait a minute 99, didn't you hear? Despite that post last year, there's NO POSSIBLE way Tennessee could've been expected to have even stayed on the field with Florida what with all the NFL draft picks the Gators had, while Tennessee had none.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Dobbs4Heisman.

On 64,000 pyramid the category is, "things a fan wouldn't say"

--no big deal..just means you are not a fan..small% of viewers of a sporting event are fans.

The difference is that the schedule is balanced as opposed to being front loaded or back loaded

Correct. And it isn't very strong at all either. LSU will be good but Arkansas is a lower half of the West team. You have FSU but could you possibly pick weaker OOC games otherwise?

As SEC schedules go, that would HAVE to be one of the weakest.

Possibly true, but this is the last year Florida will schedule any FCS schools. UF made the scheduling policy change in 2014 and this was the last year of any contractual agreements.

Any schedule with 3 cupcakes, vandy, kentucky, south carolina and missouri is going to look pretty damn weak.

Just because of fsu their schedule is tougher ooc than vols..and isn't lsu-ark pretty much the same as bama-txam?
