DE looks really good.

I'm talking specifically about DT. Sorry, should have clarified.

Everyone passes so much more that big DEs who can move around really act like DT depth

I agree w the other posters. This is b
The best DL we have had since Henderson and haynesworth

Without even looking at the rosters i am going to say bama LSU and Florida.

Edit: possibly more teams. Those are just first three that come to mind that recruit really well at that position.

LSU no. Godchaux and LaCoutre are the equivalent of Vickers and O'Brien. They have a 5* freshmen coming in Rashard Lawrence that is supposed to be good. After that it's nobody.

Kmac and Tuttle alone are better. Then we have Vickers and O'Brien that are as good as their starters. And then when you factor in Kongbo and Phillips who can both kick inside, I think its us easily.

Florida is another team with more question marks. Brantley is great. However I would take Tuttle over him. After that you would be hard pressed to mention a name you know. Joey Ivey is at best mediocre. Bullard was a huge loss for them.

As long as Tuttle is back to 100%, I think only Alabama has better DT depth than us.

DT is solid with big potential and is surrounded by loads of talent. I'm not sure who is trying to pass it off as elite depth.

I think this is the answer. Enough talent on the rest of the D that plays will be made. Whole D can step up to stop drives, especially with shoop's aggressiveness

Please start listing those teams?

Because outside of Alabama there is no one that has GREAT depth at DT. Even the best teams are trying to cobble together guys after their starters.

Go look up Clemson's depth chart. They're relying on a true freshmen to start for them.

Kmac, Tuttle, Vickers, and O'Brien are sufficient.

And then when you look at guys like Phillips and Kongbo who are versatile enough to kick inside, I would argue we're in as good a position as anyone in the country outside of Alabama.

Not many teams can say they have 2 5* defensive tackles and 2 5* defensive ends that are big enough to play DT in certain scenarios.

Yeah you may be right, I can't do any research at the moment but when I think of Championship teams I think of teams that win in the trenches with depth.

If you really expect UT to have the kind of season you seem to be predicting then we better have too of the SEC DT depth.

Its easy to notice your imperfections when you don't look at anyone else.

I just looked up LSU and Florida's projected 2016 depth chart. I dare anyone to say they would trade DTs with them.

Please tell me which foursome you would take:

(A)
Davon Godchaux
Christian LaCoutre
Frank Herron
Greg Gilmore

(B)
Caleb Brantley
Joey Ivie
Khairi Clark
Taven Bryan

(C)
Shy Tuttle
Kahlil McKenzie
Kendall Vickers
Danny O'Brien

I only see one option that has 2 5* players on it.

Also add Picou.

Gracias, he was in the first list that was posted, I was adding names I could remember that I did not see to the list.. Was hoping someone would post the entire DL/DE roster and not just a predicted depth chart.. Seems we always leave a player out at times.

There aren't many teams with better depth or talent there.

Weak schedule. Experience. Talent.

Sorry, I'm not investing in this excuse.

Yep. You and I are on the same page. We do not have a top 5 all-time great SEC defensive tackle depth chart, but we don't need it. We have enough there to be extremely successful, and what we have is better than some people give it credit for being.

Bottom line- we do not need to be absolutely perfect on paper to win big.

Bama for sure. LSU maybe (haven't followed them closely but am generally aware their DL in recent years hasn't been quite as elite as it was). Florida maybe, but they've lost a bunch. If we aren't right there we are extremely close. This isn't the Dookey Vols. Anyone else? If we are in the top 4 of a 14 team league then that's pretty elite to me.

Look at this guys. I never noticed this before. Rewatching the game highlights, 4th and 14, Mosely is told to spy clearly. Look at this gap. If he charges Grier it is an easy sack. If he gets the ball off, it's rushed. But he just stands there and does nothing. Neither does JRM. I am so glad that Shoop is now calling our defense.

Sets up perfectly for you. Pump everything up all off season so you can complain and post periods when your expectations aren't met.

Nothing weak about our schedule. We do have talent and we have experience. Still missing a senior class. Need to get lucky at DT and we need to solidify OT.

Stating facts isn't excuse making.

Lost me there. Anytime you play in the SEC while playing Alabama every year is NOT a weak schedule, period.

We also have the hardest 4 game stretch in the entire NCAA.

To be fair, we can go 2-2 in the only games that matter and have probably an 80% chance of being 10-2 at the end of the season.

Not quite Big 10 level but close.
