I tried going to confession once. I left, feeling like maybe there was no hope for me, when I heard the priest throwing up on the other side of the little window and then heard the door slam as he was running away.

I'm not sure he ever returned. I may be screwed. :cray:

You should seek Father Damien Karras. He has helped much tougher cases than yours...

(Hint: the priest that survived in the original Exorcist)

:)

I agree. I said it after the game last season and still believe it today. The TN/UA game (even though we came out on the losing end) was IMO one of the best games of the year in CFB. With the exception of the last 4 minutes (where their experience showed through) we played them toe to toe in their own house. Talent was not far off last year. This year we will be the more experienced team and it's in our house.

While a Saban coached team is always something to worry about, it is not a game to be scared of this year. Quite frankly, I'm more concerned with the back to back road games before Bama than I actually am about Bama.

Watch this team maul opponents this year. Shoop's aggressive style will fuel this team as a whole. More big plays and stops mean more time for Hurd/running game on the field. Preston stepping up(and he looks every bit like a No.1) will blow games wide open. A true threat at WR would've won every game for us last year.

I will say this and say what you want but I think this team is every bit as talented as the 1998 team(maybe more talented overall). Will they win it all? I don't know but we are LOADED this year top to bottom. Time for payback boys!

The primary difference may be in the X's and O's of coaching. Fulmer in his prime was very hard to beat on the field in pressure situations. Last year we saw that Butch is very questionable in pressure situations. He may very well cost us another close game against Bama or Fla. I just hope he has learned from last year.:ermm::ermm:

Have a nice day OB.

Dude...I've had all three girls to myself today so reading through every post is about as likely as finding a leprechaun AND a mermaid, holding a pot of gold, riding a unicorn under a double rainbow flowing with pixy dust.

It's an honest question, not trying to incite anything. I just don't follow...

Shoop is better than Chavis. IMO

He'll save Butch if he messes up.

I think there is a good possibility that there is a whole lot more truth to this than a lot of people would like to admit. Defense wins games, but a defense left on the field because the offense is producing when they should gets tired. Dobbs improving his accuracy and someone (Preston) stepping up to be the #1 changes everything. Having a true #1 will also make the other receivers better.

I mean even a lot of the talking heads are saying this now. If the passing game improves, we'll be damn near unstoppable. Time will tell, but it's looking like it may be happening.

We lined up and ran for 200+ on Florida with them sitting in the box all game. People dogged the O-line but they mauled people in the running game last year.

I'm ready!! Let's go!

They absolutely did.

That's where I hope and think the difference will be this year. They were in the box all game last year and we weren't able to take advantage of it over the top. If/when Preston steps up and Dobbs accuracy is improved at all FL should easily be a 14 pt victory. If we do 200 on the ground like last year and have a passing game....it's over.

Originally I was just pointing out that two posters who weren't 100% all in on Bob Shoop being the next great SEC DC were going to get flamed. Instead it turned in to me getting flamed.

As I said and quoted above, I believe Shoop was a great hire but he will need to prove it on the field in the SEC this season. Also, as I said before people pull out the stats when they start pumping up Shoop and that's fine but stats can be misleading and it's not apples to apples going from PSU and Vandy to here. Specifically, he was brought here to get us over the jump against the upper echelon SEC teams. Sure, stats can be a good indicator but they don't always tell the whole tale. Furthermore, nothing in his stats can tell us whether he can do what he was brought here to do because he hasn't done it before.

His defensive rank at Vandy and PSU does not necessarily mean he will be a juggernaut SEC DC just because he will have more talent to work with.

We coached scary too.

I think our defense was better when we were blitzing. The coverages on the back end was the problem. Calling cover 0 presses blitzes will get you beat a lot.

Hey guys, sorry about the delay, was going to post this earlier. Without further ado:

JG: Word around these parts is he's already showing elite skills and work ethic. Gaining some muscle mass and definitely looks the part. Very nice kid. Can't really imagine this kid not being the future of this program. Bigger than Dobbs when he came in.

Ryan Johnson: Dude is easily the biggest OL that came in. Very strong kid. IMO will end up at OG, but once again, just my opinion here. Of any of the new lineman, could see him getting earliest playing time.

Marcus Tatum: Tall and lean. Definitely needs a redshirt but you can tell the ELITE athleticism and ability is there. 2-3 years down the road he will be an All-SEC type player. Mark it down.

Brandon Johnson: Hearing his name almost every day when it comes down to guys who could contribute early. He looks similar to Malone coming in from a size perspective. Could stand to gain some weight, but that will come quickly. Huge hands.

Pope: Looks a little undersized as a TE (Daniel Helm build). The way Butch wants to use TE's will probably mean he will be the pass catcher of the two TE's brought in. Great hands, agility, athleticism. Not afraid to go up for a ball, which is a big plus in this offense.

Devante: Devante is a big TE. 6'5" 260-ish with room to grow. Don't have much info on him besides the eye test, which he definitely passes. Would bet he is used more on run heavy downs.

Baylen: Cam Sutton build. Let's hope he's a Cam Sutton type player. Don't know much on him.

Lat Williams: Latrell is another name I am constantly hearing as a potential day 1 contributor. He's a pretty small receiver but I am hearing he is already one of if not the fastest players on the team. Speed kills, and Lat's got it.

Niehaus: Dude's got to be closer to 6'7". He's on the skinny side, but like Marcus, seems to be super athletic and possessing high ability. We will be reloading elite bookends in 2-3 years if you ask me.

This is all I got. As I learn and see more things, I'll be sure to pass it along. We're on the final stretch of the offseason. Go vols! Also, sidenote, heard more good news regarding Gibbs. :loco:

If I missed anyone lemme know
