Interesting quotes from Bennett about Bama (from earlier):

I haven’t really talked to my dad in depth about that, but you know I have crimson in my blood, because my dad played there and I grew up with that. But as far as me playing college football it’s going to be wherever I’ve been given the best opportunity.”

If anybody does the Twitter thing, follow Marquez Callaway...kid's hilarious.

As for Media Days, I think Dobbs is a lock. The other two spots will be 2/3 of the other permanent captains IMO. Only question is whether Kamara sneaks in over Sutton or JRM.

Just got a crystal ball for CJ Cotman. 4 star all purpose back with offers from everybody. First I've heard of him. Anyone know anything?

What specifically did the police do improper?

There's just a lot stacked against a prosecution in this case, including:

1. Jones alerted the police to the fact that he had a gun in his lap, at which point the police arrested them and searched the car. Problem is, just possessing a gun is not illegal or grounds for search. This is the big one.

2. The stolen firearm was under one of the seats, but there was no really way to prove that Robinson owned, possessed, or knew about it.

3. There was only a half gram of weed in the car, and it couldn't be proved whose it was.

4. There were two other people in the car. But the cops only arrested the football players.

Honestly, your average young black man probably does go down for this if he can't afford an attorney. Anybody who can afford a decent one will get a similar outcome almost every time though.

In one of his articles from the end of May he says he's going to college to play defense. He also said we're in his top 4 along with UNC, OM, and tOSU and that UF is in the mix but it sounded like they've fallen off.

He plans to take one of his official visits with us. UNC and tOSU are the other two he mentioned for official visits.

Four teams at the top for ATH CJ Cotman

Darth,

1. It depends on the state. Before a recent change in TN law, you couldn't possess a firearm in a car without a carry permit. I am making a safe assumption and saying he probably didn't have one. But then again, I don't know Louisiana law. If they smelled the marijuana, that would have given them probable cause to search the car.

2. This don't fly. A gun under your seat will get you arrested every time, unless someone else in the car admits it is theirs. I have seen this many times.

3. I agree- a half of a gram is nothing. Not enough to prosecute that. However, they still don't have to prove whose it is. A bunch of people in a car with weed get charged all of the time. Constructive possession.

4. That's interesting, and it is certainly something that was probably used by their attorneys. Still doesn't necessarily mean the case automatically gets dismissed.

2 & 3 - watch a few episodes of Cops

Probable dime package per Hubbs:

TK
Sutton
Martin
Moseley
Gaulden
Foreman

Whew. Good luck throwing on that. Moseley is probably the weakest link but he was playing good at the end of last season.

1. The way the article I read was written, it made it seem like the police officers had no reasonable cause to be suspicious that drugs were in the car before the arrests. That would be the big issue.

2. It was a rental car, so that complicates things.

3. If that's the case, then why weren't the other two people charges with possession?

4. No, not enough to get it dismissed, but when you factor in all of the above, it's no surprise the DA decided it wasn't worth it to go after them.

Eh, looking at the actual facts it's not surprising they dropped it. Anybody with a decent legal defense would have been able to get a similar result.
Or maybe this is why he dropped it:

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning." - DA
