Obama still has not called the Florida Governor

I just think a president who has time to go do stupid skits on a late night show should have 5 minutes to make a phone call. It is earth shattering, no. But it's just one more thing that points to his overall character.

100% agree.

Partisan pandering during a crisis? Did you just miss that farce of a press conference Obama did where he blasted everyone but terrorists? Miss the partisan tactics in Congress yesterday when the Democrats went after Paul Ryan after the moment of silence? Have you not seen the pandering nonsense going on with those who couldn't wait to toss out gun control legislation before the incident scene was completely cleared?

Oh, there's plenty of partisan pandering going on right now. Does't change the fact the President, regardless of party, should have picked up a damn phone and called the Governor.

Are you saying partisan politics should be expected during this time? Would you agree that O not calling S is for partisan reasons? I'm confused (more than I normally am.)

Probably doesn't take much...

No, I won't agree him calling is or is not about partisan politics. I tend to think it's just really bad form for any sitting President to not call a Governor in the aftermath of something like this. Politics aside, it's as I stated, a leadership function.

You were a Marine at one point. Ever have an incident and have your commander come out just to "show the flag"? Show support for those out there even if he didn't care for them? Be a leader in a time of crisis?

Or did they make a stump speech whining and griping about other commanders?

It's a leadership quality that sadly missing from this Administration.

Scott is an ahole. That's scientific fact.

Source: I'm a Floridian.

Also I love your strategy of calling me the source for divisiveness in a thread whining about the POTUS. Seriously, that is a solid play. 'Imma borrow that one going forward if you don't mind.
Scientific? Your 'source' confirms that it is only opinion.

It's a leadership function. Even though they are on opposite political parties, the very least Obama could have done was picked up the phone and said "we're behind you. Whatever you need, we'll help."

If a former President beats you to the punch, you know you're wrong.

Out of curiosity, how did Bush do on Katrina and 911?

Feel free to borrow anything you like, but you should probably stick with your whining about how much other people whine... your hypocrisy looms large in this thread.

And as far as my accusation of you practically starting the divisiveness, see the posts below for evidence. The OP's post was in no way divisive as it simply called out the POTUS for not making a phone call... period. And it carried no different meaning than the post DanciingOutlaw made, to which you "100% agreed".

Further, you could have ended your initial post after the first sentence and it would have not been divisive. But you had to go beyond just defending Obama and also call the governor of FL an a-hole. So yes... you were the first to make a partisan, divisive post itt.

And btw... does "a phone call change nothing" or do you still "100% agree" he should have made the call? Feel free to argue with yourself as you've now supported both sides of the issue.

Outside of people who already don't like Obama, who cares? Scott is a bit of an ahole, a phone call changes nothing.

Out of curiosity, how did Bush do on Katrina and 911?

Before or after he called the Governor of Louisiana to beg her to evacuate NOLA the day prior to landfall? Or had the 7,000 troops deployed into the affected areas of Katrina to help?

And yes, he called several times to both Governors immediately after the storm:

CNN.com - Transcripts

30 August 2005 Larry King transcript:

KING: Have you spoken to your friend, the president?

BARBOUR: I have. The president has called me three times, actually. In fact, the president kept chomping at the bit to come down here. I asked him to please wait. I heard Governor Blanco. We have some of the same problems. The telecommunications infrastructure is totally destroyed. We have no electricity. So therefore, we don't have any hot water. Just the basics are not there.

KING: Governor Barbour said that the president wanted to visit Mississippi, he told him not to come. Does he want to come to Louisiana?

BLANCO: Well, I've been in touch with the president. He's called often before the storm and after the storm. I know he's helping Haley. He's helping Louisiana. He's helping Mississippi. We're in desperate need. I've never seen anything like this. We've seen lots of hurricanes on this coastline here in Louisiana and Mississippi. We've got a lot of friends al along the coast, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.

And do you honestly think he made partisan speeches on the day after 9/11? Or two days after? Here's the transcript:

CNN.com - Text of Bush's address - September 11, 2001

Want to show me the partisan politics in that speech?

You keep using the word hypocrisy to describe what I've said, but you've yet to provide any examples. Should have Obama made a phone call? Sure. But whether he does or doesn't changes nothing - unless you're one of those sentimental twitter pansies that think every hashtag campaign for every tragedy has meaning other than to say "look at me".

"The ops post wasn't divisive all he did was call out the never ceasing to amaze POTUS." C'mon man....

I like the cut of your jib teamwerk, I really do. But I've got to tell you... This isn't your best effort.

I know what you said was in jest, but because CWV will ask for proof:

CNN Transcript of the 28 August 2005 press conference by Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin:

CNN.com - Transcripts

GOV. KATHLEEN BLANCO, LOUISIANA: Thank you, Mayor.

I want to reiterate what the mayor has said. This is a very dangerous time. Just before we walked into this room, President Bush called and told me to share with all of you that he is very concerned about the citizens. He is concerned about the impact that this hurricane would have on our people. And he asked me to please ensure that there would be a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans.

The leaders at the highest ranks of our nation have recognized the destructive forces and the possible awesome danger that we are in. And I just want to say, we need to get as many people out as possible. The shelters will end up probably without electricity or with minimum electricity from generators in the end. There may be intense flooding that will be not in our control, which would be ultimately the most dangerous situation that many of our people could face.

Thank god this terror attack was nothing like Hurricane Katrina!! Otherwise who knows what would have happened had the President not contacted the state officials with much haste!

Some of you seem to forget how FEMA and Bush botched the whole Katrina ordeal. Bush was on vacation when Katrina hit and actually went golfing either the day after or 2 days. Cheney was on vacation as well in Wyoming and Condeleeza was in NY doing some shopping and taking in a show for the next few days after Katrina hit.

FEMA was on the Gulf Coast for 3-4 days before people started getting water flown into them. Of course when you put a horse trainer with zero experience in charge of FEMA, what would you expect.

Bush did a really good job of handling 9/11 but his handling of Katrina was a disgrace and his speech in regards to Katrina was a joke
