Florida Game

Peyton played out of his mind in '95. That loss definitely wasn't on him. Peyton was unstoppable for 2 1/2 quarters.

Jay Graham, and whoever was supposed to cover Ike Hilliard...they deserve criticism.

He was outstanding that day, led the offense to 30 points in the Swamp, had UT ahead by 13 points in the third quarter, didn't commit a turnover iirc. Yet, that outstanding game by Peyton only falls under the category of "Manning never beat Florida".

Oh boy, another one of these posts. I enjoy the game my way, you enjoy it yours. I pay to get in same as you.

U are correct and I didn't ask anyone to do anything! I was replying to other post and giving my observation of people's quotes to the loudness of Neyland. But I am glad I could put something on here that made someone move around in their seat. Unlike at the game.

The 2002 game was another embarrassment. Florida was throwing the ball around, unconcerned about the rain, and we rain the FB something like 25 times. You can guess the outcome....

Based on my nine trips to Neyland, these two posts are spot on.

At Death Valley, and to a lesser extent The Swamp, the team feeds off the crowd noise, and the noise is consistent on every down.

At Neyland the crowd feeds off the team.

I will say The Swamp isn't as loud as it used to be, primarily because all the students don't show up on time, and a good number of them are chained to their smartphones instead of making noise.

Disagree, the crowd almost always feeds of the team. I have seen more than 15 games in the swamp. Your crowd is quiet like all others when the other team is doing well. Not to mention empty for much of the past 4 seasons.

I can't say we'll beat UF anymore until we do, but holy crap, I know if Hurd gets a chance...he will knock Tabor on his ass. And it will be glorious.

And I've seen 9 games at Neyland....your opinion is noted.

Exhibit A is the 2012 game...after Trey Burton's TD run the score was only TIED, but the crowd was never the same after that play even though there was still a full quarter left to play.

I readily admit The Swamp ain't what it used to be...our student section can't be bothered to show up on time, or stick around for the entire game.

And the HDTV era has contributed to empty seats across the country.

Florida player on twitter "Cavs Chocking"

Jalen Tabor replied "Kinda like Tennessee in the 4th Quarter"

Unlike a lot of people that say, 'gotta see it before I believe it,' I truly believe we are going to shred Florida this year. I'm talking rip their heads off, p!ss down their gaping necks, make them eat our sh** destroy them. Gah, I hucking fate Florida.

I agree. You have to admit, the team didn't play the same after that play either.

True, and it was the most bizarre reaction to a game-tying touchdown I've ever seen with that much time left to play.

It was as if because UT was supposed to win big, UF wasn't supposed to compete.

I was there and the reaction was definitely one of "here we go." When a tight end out runs your defense you know it's downhill from there.

I was disgusted and had a lynch mob ready for Dooley after game.

The guy sitting next to me at the game got up and left after Burton's TD.

He told me we were getting beaten badly in the trenches and that they had just exposed our defense. Said Florida would end up winning by 3 scores and that he had seen enough.

The crowd being so deflated was definitely due to the "here we go again" factor (especially vs Florida) rather than disinterest in the game. Neyland will be capable of rocking again for 4 quarters even when faced with adversity after we string together a few decent seasons and fans stop feeling like we're going to lose every single close game.

I'm going to go ahead say I expect there to be a pregame ruckus at midfield instigated by the Gators in an attempt to get us lose our cool and focus.

The main problem was that half of those "running plays" were falling down to recover the fumbled snap from center.

I think a lot of Vol fans thought that. Our offense looked great against NC State, defense gave up yards but forced a lot of turnovers so it wasn't clear that our D was horrible yet. UF had just slugged out a win against Texas A&M who no one really expected to be a decent team its first year, even though they turned out to be. Plus the gameday hype and just wanting to believe tricked a lot of people into thinking UT would smash UF.
