No kidding.
Look, I guarantee you right now the phones at the UT ticket office are ringing off the hook.
Tennessee is different than Florida too. You guys probably have fans who travel to Knoxville for games that live in about eight different states.
I know the school has the right to do this.
What I am saying (and go look at my first post) is how long can you possibly expect season ticket holders to purchase tickets and pay ridiculous booster fees (out of love of school) when they don't even know when the heck the game is going to be played.
College football is the only sport like this.
Every other sport the time and date of the game is known months in advance and does not change except for an act of God.
No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm just highlighting the fact that the disclaimer is there for people to actually know that the game time and date can actually change, and when it does they were warned.
It sucks, I get it. But it's not like UT does this on a frequent basis. It's just how things go sometimes and the ticket holder should be aware that things can change.
True, but at least you do know that the game will be played on a Saturday as scheduled. Apparently our AD just wants us to clear our schedule for the whole damn week and show up whenever he sees fit to schedule the game.
That was my point.
Because you can't go or its inconvenient for you, you hope 102,000 other people, the University, and the city that hosts the games all have a miserable time?
My guess is a lot more people (season ticket holders) have to be at work on Friday morning vs Sunday morning. And if you think parking on a Thursday night is the same as a Saturday, you're clueless. No offense. :good!:
No parking for either people who paid for passes to games or people who paid for passes for school. Because you probably don't know this but they use the same lots. So, logistical problem. See how that works?
That or there's a financial incentive offered to the school for it to move its game to Thursday.
(Or the SEC Network just has the right in our contract with ESPN to pick up a game in the first part of the year and move it to Thurs.)
You are so right. There will literally be people that want to go to the game but will miss it because they cannot find a place to park. Not.
So you are saying there is not a logistical problem here, with trying to park 100k people in slots already taken by the students who paid for school spots? That is naive at the least
They'll cancel classes for that day, I'd almost guarantee it. Plenty of other schools have done it.
I don't think he was really wishing ill on anybody as much as just that it turns out to have enough drawbacks that the AD opens its eyes to the fact that playing midweek home games isn't the best plan for a school that has a fanbase where you've got thousands of people traveling in from across the state and even other states.
Lots of great posts . . . but, I still think it sucks.
Continuing to ponder this a bit further, I think the university is so focused on B@B game they forgot that the first game of the season is always something special. Sadly, they're treating the first game of the 2016 season like an off-date scrimmage.
Maybe they should refund our ticket fees and 1/7th the donation and open this up like an orange and white game. They could ensure good attendace and we'd have a lot less to complain about. Just a thought.
