9-1-16? (Vols' season opener moved to Thursday)

Likely won't be there. I potentially could have made it on Saturday, but chances are probably slim to none I can make it on Thursday. Oh well, its App State. I usually try to attend all of the home games, but its not like I'm gonna miss a thriller here (at least it better not be a thriller).

Like I mentioned earlier, it was awfully nice of them to announce the move a couple weeks after they made sure they already had everyone's ticket money. If they are going to pull this crap, then honestly the game needs to be sold separate from the season tickets. I recognize that my work situation probably puts me in a tiny minority of people who live in Knoxville and will have no option but to miss the game. However, there are thousands of people who come here from out of town for the games who are going to be MASSIVELY inconvenienced at best, and many will likely have to stay home and just try to recoup what they can for their tickets.

My thoughts exactly! I work 1/2 mile from Neyland Stadium & don't like the idea because I know there are 1000s of fans this is going to greatly inconvenience. And by Hart claiming "academics" is just bull! He has his head in its usual place...up his butt
He can talk all he wants to & say whatever, but he couldn't care less about the average UT fan! Can't wait til that bummer boy is gone

They have more recently than Tennessee.

Against an FCS opponent in their first year of existence no less.

Logistically, it sucks for some people. I get it.

But if you want any exposure at all for the season opener to Tennessee's most anticipated season in almost a decade...this was the only way you're going to get it given the way the week 1 schedule lays out.

The only thing I would change is trying to get ESPN to switch us to the mother ship and push the Candy/Carolina cripple fight to SECN.

I like it personally. Have something to look forward to that Thursday night after work and can post up Saturday and watch all the big games without it interfering with our beloved Vols.

We'll play Thursday games in the future...no matter the AD.

Last year Clemson, Michigan, TCU, Baylor, Stanford were among teams that played on Thursday. From the SEC, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Mississippi State ... are among those that have played on Thursday night in recent years. A key match up between Oregon, when they were ranked number 3 in the nation occurred on Thursday.

To me it's frustrating because there's a lot more that goes into it a Tennessee Gameday than just watching the game. Whether I'm attending the game, which is rare these day, or I'm at home, for me the whole day is a production of anticipation, having friends and family tailgating either at the game or at home and just genuinely enjoying the day. We only get to do this for the Vols 13 times a year recently, hopefully 15 times this year, that's not a lot. So if plans get changed I can understand why people get pissed.

I'm sure I'll be excited to watch us play, and I like the extra prep time for VPI, but overall I think the cons outweigh the pros. It's at night and not at noon, there are fewer games played that night, but we are still the undercard to the 13th and 14th best teams in the SEC. This isn't a Thursday night kickoff in Atlanta or Dallas versus a decent OOC opponent on ESPN ,it's a home game against App State that screws up a lot of people's plans for Labor Day. Campus and I-40 are going to be an even bigger zoo than normal. Honestly, I hope UT F's this up royally so they will never consider doing this again.

Lastly I say this. I'm sorry for saying, actually not sorry:

THIS. IS. BENEATH. US.

Calling it like I see it. Save the Bama did it too crap, it was beneath them too. Flame Away.

I would be for this if they set it up where only season ticket holders could watch game via online streaming access since we bought tix to game we can't attend now. Lol that would be hilarious.
