Only problem with that premise was milk the clock. Make ONE first down, you win. It really isn't that hard, they wet the bed. Question is, is it Jones or Debord?

As for Dobbs, it would help him if there was a QB coach.

Giving up two fourth downs on one drive, one of which went for a 63 yard touchdown is not on Debord or Jones. Failing to milk the clock to the max is not wetting the bed compared to having colossal meltdowns on fourth and long. They do not share equal blame. Defense was much more responsible for those losses.

Check my last post. I'm no homer. I give credit where it's due. Jarrad Davis is the best pro prospect at LB for next years draft IMO. Way better than JRM who I love but has a very low ceiling in the pros. I thought Jonathan Bullard was the best DT in the SEC last year.

So this is not about me being a homer. I'm just not a fan of corners with 4.6 speed.

Jon Bullard is the most underrated prospect in the draft. I have a top 8 grade on him.

But you are still annoying.

Your best defense is a good offense. A team wins or loses together; it is a team, get it? Our offense could not sustain drives against Oklahoma in the 2nd half and the defense was on the field much too long. To blame the defense alone for such a loss is laughable.

So you think that the 40 times at the opening are accurate AND that Dobbs improved his 40 time by half a second since he got on campus? (you have said you expect him to run a 4.45-4.5)

C'mon man.

I doubt Dobbs ran 4.94 at the opening. You got that number from ESPN's recruiting site. Those numbers are highly unreliable. Just check out what they have for Myles Garrett and Preston Williams.

Preston Williams - Football Recruiting - Player Profiles - ESPN

5.08 40 for Myles Garrett? 4.75 40 for Preston Williams? LOL.

Myles Garrett has been hand timed with a 4.46 40 at A&M. The Preston number is completely wrong because here is a news source saying Preston ran a 4.60 40 at the opening. Tennessee Vols targets post big SPARQ ratings at The Opening

Believe those numbers if you want.

They didn't seem to have too much trouble getting the offense into 3rd oe 4th and long. If they were on the field too long, it is because they kept giving up 3rd and 4th down conversions. Win as a team lose as a team, sure. But this guy was putting the majority of blame on the offense. To me, that's insane. Obviously scoring touchdowns every time you get the ball will lead to victories, but 27 points against Florida and 24 points against Oklahoma should have been enough to win.

But it was not. My statement still holds true: a defense cannot be expected to return to the field repeatedly after the offense goes 3 and out. Missed opportunities by the offense means problems for the defense. A great defense is what all teams desire but few have. Blaming the defense for losses when the offense has showcased its inadequacies is ridiculous.

Don't want to moderate this, but you are both right. Which is what made the losses so disturbing. If either one of the units had completed the task, UT wins in both games.

I do want to point out that giving up 24-27 points to quality programs should be expected in today's game. Remember that there are many more offensive plays in a game than in the past. UT's offense is really fast paced and will increase the opportunities for both teams to score regardless of the philosophy of the opponent because of the increased number of possessions. So the old standard of 20 points or less being good scoring defense is thrown out the window IMO.

That being said; leaving Jumper at home, having Gaulden at nickel; and having Maggitt at DE changes the outcomes. Add end the stupid D-calls on 3/4 and long. Offensive play calling alone changes things. Never, ever, take your foot off the gas in today's game.

Florida game was all on the defense. Effort wise a curl route should never go for 67 yards on 4th and 18.

Both Hurd and Kamara will be gone nest year. John Kelly will step in with little to know (depending on development) drop off.

What are you smoking these days?

Hurd is absolutely one of the all time top 5 RB's at UT and Kamara has proven to be pretty good also. They were both 5* recruits out of HS. Kelly was a 3*. There is a huge difference between Hurd / Kamara vs Kelly.
