Only problem with that premise was milk the clock. Make ONE first down, you win. It really isn't that hard, they wet the bed. Question is, is it Jones or Debord?
As for Dobbs, it would help him if there was a QB coach.
Check my last post. I'm no homer. I give credit where it's due. Jarrad Davis is the best pro prospect at LB for next years draft IMO. Way better than JRM who I love but has a very low ceiling in the pros. I thought Jonathan Bullard was the best DT in the SEC last year.
So this is not about me being a homer. I'm just not a fan of corners with 4.6 speed.
Giving up two fourth downs on one drive, one of which went for a 63 yard touchdown is not on Debord or Jones. Failing to milk the clock to the max is not wetting the bed compared to having colossal meltdowns on fourth and long. They do not share equal blame. Defense was much more responsible for those losses.
So you think that the 40 times at the opening are accurate AND that Dobbs improved his 40 time by half a second since he got on campus? (you have said you expect him to run a 4.45-4.5)
C'mon man.
Your best defense is a good offense. A team wins or loses together; it is a team, get it? Our offense could not sustain drives against Oklahoma in the 2nd half and the defense was on the field much too long. To blame the defense alone for such a loss is laughable.
Here's an article about Josh after he signed in 2013. Dobbs brilliant coup for Vols' Jones (with Video) | Times Free Press
It says Dobbs best time was 4.6 in the 40. That sounds more accurate.
Thus making it possible for him to bump that 4.6-4.7 40 at 18 years old down to 4.45-4.50 by age 22.

They didn't seem to have too much trouble getting the offense into 3rd oe 4th and long. If they were on the field too long, it is because they kept giving up 3rd and 4th down conversions. Win as a team lose as a team, sure. But this guy was putting the majority of blame on the offense. To me, that's insane. Obviously scoring touchdowns every time you get the ball will lead to victories, but 27 points against Florida and 24 points against Oklahoma should have been enough to win.

But it was not. My statement still holds true: a defense cannot be expected to return to the field repeatedly after the offense goes 3 and out. Missed opportunities by the offense means problems for the defense. A great defense is what all teams desire but few have. Blaming the defense for losses when the offense has showcased its inadequacies is ridiculous.
Both Hurd and Kamara will be gone nest year. John Kelly will step in with little to know (depending on development) drop off.
